Breakfast

Do you eat it, or can't you face it first thing? Do you eat traditional breakfast foods at strange times of the day or night (I'm eating muesli right now, and it's 2.06 am over here)? What's the wierdest thing you've ever eaten for breakfast? Here in England, one traditional breakfast dish is made from smoked fish, rice, boiled eggs, peas and curry powder (kedgeree) all cooked together! Share your breakfast habits with the world (well OK - the Mylot community!).

I always make sure to have my breakfast, it helps facing the day :) I usually don't eat much and may take a snack later on but mostly I would eat bread with different kinds of cheese, milk or yogurt or whatever leftovers available!

I almost always eat breakfast and I can eat it any time of the day! I don't think I've ever really had anything too weird for breakfast. I tend to eat the traditional breakfasts. Eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc.

Oh, that doesn't sound like my kind of breakfast. LOL I'm such a picky eater. Plus, I like something that's quick and easy to prepare. I can take more time for breakfast on the weekends, but during the week, I need something quick cuz I just don't have time in the mornings to prepare anything.

Sounds like you like a good cooked breakfast! Have you ever tried a "Full English" breakfast? I'll try to remember everything that goes into it - it's certainly substantial and delicious, and really sets you up for the day:toast & jam or porridge (like oatmeal), then bacon, eggs (fried, scrambled, boiled or poached), sausages, mushrooms, baked beans or grilled tomatoes. Some traditional extra components include grilled kidneys, black pudding, fried bread and kippers! When you have a full English breakfast, you don't need to (or want to) eat again until your evening meal. Oh and I forgot the drinks/fruit: tea or coffee, fruit juice, and half a grapefruit!

Yes, it does tend to be a special occasional type of breakfast, and some of its component parts are rather an acquired taste LOL! The basic version tends to be beans, egg, toast, bacon and sausages. Ah well, English food's not to everyone's taste, so enjoy your American breakfast foodstuffs! All the best :-)

I have been known to eat full meals, such as lunch or supper, for breakfast, and traditional breakfast food at odd times, such as the middle of the night/small hours of the morning. I may have had kedgeree...I'm sure I have but I can't remember. I fancy some now as a matter of fact and it's just gone 8pm.

Unfortunately, I am not much of a breakfast eater because I am too busy running around in the morning trying to cater to my toddler's needs and check what things are needed for work that before I realized it, it is lunchtime...so I settle for a brunch.
Back in my native country, breakfast will be with fried rice, fried eggs, longganiza (local sausage) and with native coffee. Or coffee with milk and bread is enough for breakfast too.
But I am trying my best to eat breakfast regularly because I know it is the most important food for the day.

Thanks for another interesting and informative response ladymoonstone! The breakfast you describe sounds delicious and healthy. It is easy to miss breakfast when you're run off your feet, but brunch is always a good alternative, and by then you're generally hungry enough to eat a heartier meal anyway! Thanks for your response, and have a lovely day :-)

I've tried cold pizza for breakfast - if the pizza is a good quality one and doesn't have meat/spices on it, it's a very nice way to start the day! Thanks for sharing :-)

My family favorite breakfast meal is Sunny side up egg, bacon, ham and bake bean and with a cup of freshly brew coffee. I can only have it during weekend.
On weekday, I am always rushing to send the kids to school and getting to work. And breakfast is just sandwich and a cup of coffee that I grab from the company cafeteria

Thanks for your response! Coffee is always a must-have in our household first thing too. That fry-up sounds lovely too - and don't you find that coffee tastes even better and more coffee-beaney after baked beans? All the best and cheers again :-)

I love to eat breakfast. That is my favorite meal. Most mornings I eat oatmeal with applesauce mixed in. I don't like milk so I don't add it in. On a occassion I eat Special K for breakfast. I like the kind with the strawberries in it. I don't mind milk when I eat this cearal because the strawberries make the milk sweet. I like these two breakfast foods but I also eat them at different times of the day.

Thanks for your response sunshinelady! Have you ever tried oatmeal (porridge in England!) with brown sugar, loads of cinnamon and some raisins/sunflower seeds stirred in? It's a delicious variation, and is very healthy too! That combo works particularly well on freezing winter nights - real comfort food :-)

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Too bad, I don't take breakfast because I usually wake up around 10:00 to 11:00 am. What I take is some sort of brunch. If you think that eating ice cream in the morning is weird, I do that sometimes.

Ice-cream eh?! Very unusual, but each to their own! Is it just plain ice-cream, or do you go all out and make a sundae or a knickerbocker glory? Thanks for your response :-)

I seldom take my breakfast. One of the reason is because I'm having 8am class almost everyday. Then when i finish my class, I will just go back to my room and surf the net. I will just take an early lunch around 11am if I am really hungry. If not I will just wait till 12/1pm.

I think this is the case with most people nowadays, although you know, if you did eat breakfast before your early class, you'd probably be able to concentrate better! It kick-starts the brain as well as the body, and really does make a difference :-) Thanks for sharing!
