I just want to say to any teachers out there thanks for what you do. You have a hard job, your underpaid, many times not appreciated and I think teachers deserve to get some recognition and appreciation here. Thanks for all the dedication and love that you put into your profession.

I was a teacher for 3 years and left the teaching profession because I was getting paid peanuts. After school I had to go home do lesson plans, and grade papers. I was exhausted and decided to go for a different occupation. So I went to school and got my MS in Counseling. Teachers work hard and they are not normally appreciated by parents.

Two cheers for teacher's!! Long hours, lousy pay, way to many responsibilities and other duties that you have to do. When do you get the time to actually teach?

Thank you very much for your kind words as I am a business technology instructor and help teach people with physical and mental limitations on how to use a computer and computer software as well as learning how to do office type work, like copying, faxing, scanning and other functions. It is very nice to be appreciated and also feel that teachers are underpaid.

Howard dear- you could be teacher's Pet with that kind of post! BUT - you are so right. There is little said or done for these incredible people that are such a huge influence on our childrens lives. I'm with you I believe they should be paid more and recognized more for their time and caring !
Good show BRAVO !!!!

Thanks! I'm a teacher here in Philadelphia, teaching in a private school. I teach Physical Science to 8th graders. I used to work in my home country, the Philippines, where I taught in an international school (Biology and Chemistry). I know that there are a lot of underpaid teachers (the job doesn't approximate the work load) so it's really the dedication that matters then, for those who have stayed. As I'm aware of the plight of the teachers in the Philippines, I could say that I'm fortunate to have taught in an international school because I got to be paid way higher than local school teachers. Should I be getting lesser salary, I believe I would still teach because I love doing it. Here in the U.S. (particularly here in Philadelphia), I have also heard of teachers complaining about salaries. I had been teaching here for months only so I'm still not well-versed with that. The thing is, I'm still getting paid higher than even before, and I totally love all my students. Teaching, for me, is dedication and sacrifice, first and foremost. Thanks again!

what a lovely thought for teachers. I am a teacher of sorts, I was trained as a counsellor, so that does include guidance counsellor and I can also to therapy. I am also a writer which I have been concentrating on mostly of late.

I sure agree about the underpaid long hours, as I use to be a teacher. Many days I would spend several hours after school working with students who were behind or grading papers. It was very challenging; however, seeing a student succeed was great. Some days I miss teaching, but now I tutor students when my business is closed.

My Mom is a teacher and I really appreciate what she is doing. All the hardwork and dedication she puts in her job is amazing. All she wanted is for her students to learn and hopefully graduate and be successful in the field that they have chosen. Its true that they are very much underpaid for their works that's why I'm super proud of my Mom because she managed to let us finished schooling, all of us 5 childen are able to go to school and enjoy the fruit of her labor. I'll let my Mom know that you are thankful to all the teachers and that you appreciate them. In a few months, I'll be teaching as well. I think, this is the nobliest job on earth and no amount of money can pay the joy of teaching and guiding the next generation to become a good citizen of their country. Have a good day!(",)

hi friend, i am not a teacher but my sister is. and she teaches a pre-schooler kids. for me it was too hard to handle, and you are right, they are underpaid. the amount of money she receives every month is not enough for the time and effort she gave and extend for the kids. But i can see her that she was happy for what she's doing..
