The start next to mylot username is your user level. If you are very active and have good and quality discussions and comments, the stars show it. If you are sharing your discussions and thought in manners like you are just playing and can't resolve a good post and advice, it is not a quality discussions. Read the guidelines and policy about posting.

Sorry Neon need to make a correction to your post. The star starts showing at 100 posts not 500 posts.

The stars are your mylot reputation or the star rating system. You will get a star when you have posted 100 responses to other members discussions. The stars range from 1 to 10. The higher the number the higher your mylot reputation. The stars are based on the "+" and "-", the more positive marks you get the higher your star will be. You should give quality responses and start quality discussions to get the "+" more often. Single line responses will mostly be seen as a negative "-". When replying your responses should be no less than 4 lines. They should stay on topic.
Hope this helps. Welcome to mylot! :)

You will get your star when you reached 100 posts, it represents your reputation here on mylot. And your star rating depends on your performance here, other people rates your post depending on what they think about your response/discussion started.
So I suggest you participate more on some discussionsto reach your 100 post and get your star, post more responsibly to get positive ratings from others.
Welcome to mylot and enjoy your posting. Goodluck!;)
