I don't know about the US prices but here in Romania it is a tad too expensive given its size :(

I can remember as a kid my parents always had a subscription to Readers Digest-- I loved it! There are so many great articles.. Jokes, little stories- It really is full of great stuff.. I would read it from cover to cover-- I cannot say that about alot of magazines or magazine type books. I don't have a subscription now-- Why?? The subscription price is outrageous! Sure I loved it-- and when you break it out by cost per book it isn't bad-- Its the initial price for the sub.. Just like the tv guide.
So I'd say yes it is too expensive by sub. but not by book.

yeah! here in the Philippines it now cost P140.. My mom used to be a subscriber of reader's digest.. I planned then to be a subscriber yet i decided not to although it is really worth it! I find it very much informative and useful. I hope one day if I've got lots of resources i might finally subscribe but right now that i still ask financial support from my parents i should have greater and better priorities other than reader's digest! I would just borrow from my close friends and have it overnight in order for me to be updated with the latest issue..
