This mysterious symbol has been showing up all over the place in Heroes and you may not have noticed all of them. I was shocked when I found out just how many places I missed. Here is a list of all the places the symbol has shown up since the start of this series: on the cover of 9th WOnders of the World! Issue #5 by Isaac Mendez, in a notebook on a desk at Chandra's apartment in Brooklyn, twice on the cover of 9th Wonders of the World!, Issue #14, on Chandra's map in his Brooklyn apartment, drawn on Claire Bennet's geometry textbook, portrayed on Peter Petrelli's precognitive picture, on one of Isaac Mendez's many paintings seen by Hiro in the future, as a recurring shape shown in a genetic profiling program created by Chandra Suresh, in a swimming pool at a crime scene that Matt Parkman was investigating, on the front cover of Activating Evolution by Chandra Suresh, drawn on a newspaper clipping of Nathan Petrelli found on a map in Sylar's apartment, drawn on three photos pinned to the map in Sylar's apartment, on the necklace of The Haitain who works with Mr. Bennet, designed on the hilt of future Hiro's katana, on Jessica's shoulder, in the underlayer of a painting that was thought to be of Niki Sanders but revealed to be her alter ego, on a post-it not in Sanjog's file, at a Greyhound bus stop in Utah at which Micah was waiting, on the hilt of the replica Takezo Kensei's sword, as a wood formation on the tank of the lizard named Mohinder, in a plate of pasta being eaten by one of Claude's pickpocteting victims, in the shards of glass in the broken display case when Sylar tossed Sandra Bennet into it, in Thompson's office, on the front door of the Bennets' home as Ted Sprague bombards it with radiation, and in the arrangement of some stones, on the curator's table in Linderman's archives. Where has this symbol come from and what exactly does it mean? I don't know what it means, but it might have come from Linderman, himself since it appears around Linderman quite frequently.

Well, this is by no means official, and feel free to disagree if you think I'm wrong, but I think it represents the fact that those who have the symbol have a different type of DNA than those who don't. The symbol bears a resemblance to half a strand of DNA (DNA has a double-helix shape, I'm sure you can find it on the net), so maybe this indicates that the heroes are genetically different from the "normal" population. As for how they came to have this mark, I think that's anyone's guess. Maybe they had been kidnapped at one point and were tattooed to mark them as "special", and then made to forget the whole thing?

Wow, that's a lot of places. I didn't see where you mentioned the Primatech Paper website. It's called a helix when it's referred to on that site. It's laying on its side.

A bowl of pasta is an unusual place to think of finding a symbol. Thanks for posting the places the symbol has shown up so far, as its likely we will all see more of them. I'm looking forward to learning more about the symbols.
