I think maybe you should expand your artistic touch by making money through the internet. Example, build a website on fine arts and sell your painting and then you can open an art gallery when you have money? Why not?

I also did my fine arts degree and I think it is worth it. I'm already applying for jobs related to my field and so far, I'm doing okay. Anyway, I wish you all the luck in finding a decent job :)

my take: 1. try having a specialized field (i.e. graphic design, website design, portraiture, sculpture, etc). find out where you are really good at and focus your energy there. 2. establish contacts who can give you opportunities as freelance artist 3. education equips you, but experience still is the best teacher, so try to start small 4. i have friends who are artists and do freelance work. so far, i haven't heard them complain except for deadlines and workload.

Education of every field whether it is science or arts is worth or not depends on the individual. Do not keep a negative attitude towards your education, If you will not respect your education then no one else will . So first think whatever you have learnt is worth it and you will be successful, develop that attitude and you will find a very good job after that.

I DON'T know that is it bad to be an artist or not but one thing i want to say is that every field is good every one has some talent in his/herself just you must recognize what is good for you or what is not it is your carrier so it is your choice what you choose is best for you

Create your own opportunities. If you were smart enough to get through college, then you are smart enough to make your education pay for itself. Just keep looking-you'll find the way.

Maybe you can just spent your time drawing/painting (w/e u like to do) and you can sell the art on the internet. If it is good enough you can sell it on ebay. and also there are other sites that buy art.

I don't know as I have never taken that route. Perhaps you could sell your pictures privately? Alot of people put their work on display on websites. Or is fine arts something else entirely???

A lot of my friends are fine arts graduate and what the hell they all end up as a call center agent... They all have this sympathy that they'll soon end up as the most talented artist in our country... but unfortunately they have to first die before having any recognition....and apparently only the ratio of one out of 100 would get it...only the best among the best. the only good thing about this is you have a way to express your artistic self on your canvas... either pain or happiness... you can always let it out while painting.. That's how my artistic friends said so... at least i had the artistic feeling in me too when i talked to them...hihi

wow, I always wanted to do that. why don't you go for commercial art diploma and enhance your skills. it can be done on freelance basis too. You can teach kids arts from home in summer break. you can pait and seel your work. you can do tones of things just be creatrive. my sister inlaw has sold four of her paintings in an exhibhition in Kanpur. she belongs to a small village in Bihar if she can do it you can do it too.

I don't know if it's good or not. I'm not an artiest and I do fine, so I don't think you have to be an artiest in order to do well.
