You can try facing and looking at the door side rather than the view deck side, except if you have acrophobia, the severe fear of heights. It's more like a platform lift.

yeah me too, i am afraid use this type of elevators. I find it difficult to use it to come down and not to go up. I feel more relaxed on a covered elevator

Goodness No! They make me very nervouse and panicky. It sounds silly but they don't feel safe to me and as I am afraid of heights anyway! No I would much rather feel like I'm in a metal box than floating through the air!
