Iraq again

First let me say that we should never have ever gone into invade Iraq. It was a stupid ideologically inspired piece of flawed idiocy that relied on governments lying to people at every level - Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, Saddam was behind 9/11 etc, even when confronted by the evidence behind their sordid little stories they turned on teh offensive against anybody brave enough to speak the truth - just look at the tragic case of David Kelly to be sure of that.
The trouble is, and i have been agonising over this for a year or more. What on earth do we do now that our governments have messed up so gigantically? The soft answer is to call for troops to leave immediately, but how can we walk away from our own chaos and leave our victims to be killed and starved because we couldn't stand our soldiers being killed anymore? It sickens me to admit this but i feel that Bush might have a point, staying until the job is finished may be the only morally correct thing to do.

America has done good with ridding Iraq of Saddam Hussein but by which the manner it was done was tasteless and uncivilized. Freemen should never resort to war and violence in promoting their will to other nations. It is alright for us to resort to action in defending our own territory but goodness, what higher Being gave America the right to inflict such punishment to other HUMAN BEINGS. Pardon the frankness. Peace.

totally with you there, the only possible excuse for war is self defence or to prevent another, more terrible evil. The world needed to stand up to Hitler in 1938, not in 1939, even if you were not Polish and weren't directly threatened. I agree that the UN should have the power to stand up to aggression, even with the actual use of armed power. And as i said, this war meets none of those criteria except getting rid of Saddam and this was done badly and dishonestly, we all deserve more than that. THe point still stands however, the idiots in power have prevailed, as they always seem to, they have left a whole load of mess to get cleaned up and i don't know how this is supposed to happen by withdrawing troops. I don't think that i am being ambiguous, i am anti war, but the war has happened, is still happening. Maybe the beligerant armies should withdraw, to be replaced by neutral peace keepers, but whar sane government is going to send their forces over to Iraq now? I only hope that Bush / Blair etc get to read what historians have to say about their little war.
