I speak English. I'm in Texas & I know for a fact that some of my neighbors main language is probably Spanish & at least one household around the corner probably speak vietnamese or chinese. I wish I could speak another language, but I've learned that I have a language learning disablity now that I'm an adult & they know about these things. They didn't know about them when I was a child.

The national language for Malaysia is Bahasa Malaysia. However, most Malays, including myself, would speak in Bahasa Melayu with some slangs included. However, work wise, i would normally converse in English. My wife on the other hand is an Indonesian. Therefore, when I talk to her, I used a mixture of Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia and English.

I speak English. I was also an exchange student so I speak a little French, and as I now live in Ireland I have a handful of Irish words, as well. I can also pick out a few words in Flemish, Italian and Spanish, but not reliably.

Wow! I admire those languages. I know a little about Spanish and French Language but Italian not yet. I guess Italian is not too difficult to learn coz it is rooted from Latin words just like Spanish.

I think once you have one of the Romance languages down the rest are so similar you can cross translate based on the roots. Many of the words and conjugations are very similar.

my mother tounge is urdu. i can very well express myself in urdu and english and also to a very good level in punjabi. French is the fourth language but my level is no more than intermediate. i find it difficult to express myself in french as i want. my basic language urdu which literally means language of army (lashkar) is, amazingly, a very soft and gentle language, now known as language of gentle people. but it is difficult to master for other people because of its rules and regulations and as well as many exceptions. it differentiates between sexes in linguistic terms i.e. it has different conjugations, articles, nouns and pronouns for two sexes. pretty interesting. it can be equated to french which also has similar chareteristics.

This week here in Ireland has has been Irish week. Although the kids normally speak English in school but study Irish, they have been conducting lessons in irish all week. So, I have gotten a few more of those words to add to my collection as well.
