Do you think Sehwag is being pampered by Dravid? India already have too many openers, Ganguly, Uthappa, Tendulkar to name a few. Now, why is he still backing Sehwag even after he is having a poor run? Wouldnt it be better if he would replace Uthappa at Sehwag's spot and use the extra option? Rather than adding a duck to the scorecard? I am not a Sehwag hater, but at this point of time, I think he needs a break.

I think Dravid has a good reason to pamper Sehwag. The moment Sehwag gets his form back he is matchwinner. To add to that Sehwag is going to bowl some real crucial overs in the West Indies as the pitch would assist the slow bowlers.
I think the key to India's success this time over is going to be the explosive start from Uthappa and the class of Ganguly at the opening, Sedate middle overs by Dravid and Tendulkar and an explosive end provided by Sehwag and MS Dhoni.
I think Sehwag is going to fire big time sometime in the tournament, I hope it would be the semis and finals.
Cheers!

But do we have the time left to give Sehwag time to regain his form? Every match is going to be crucial and even one misfire can be disastrous. About the bowling, I think India already nice cushion with Ganguly, Sachin and Yuvraj. And if Sehwag is expelled, we could squeeze in another bowler too.

I would agree with Ganguly and Sachin as options, but Yuvraj is too dibbly dobbly a bowler to affect any of the top teams. So I still think Sehwag is going to be an asset in this world cup.
See you after the cup to continue this discussion :)
Cheers!

Yes, I agree to you that he is being pampered. All of us cheered for him in his glorious days and thus, I too had confidence in him but now that he is not doing well for so long and not even looking to be normal, I think he needs a break just like Zaheer and Ganguly. If we back him now, then why did not do it for Ganguly or Zaheer. Were they not classy then?? If we say that is a match winner, then were they not??? They were and they have come back strongly. Give Sehwag a break of 6-8 months and thing will be all right. I too want to see him play well as all of us want to.

Yeah, that is the exact point I was making, but I don't think we need to fix up a predefined time of 6-8 months, whenever he is fit and ready for the international arena, he should be in. But he should not become the burden for the team himself.

I feel the pressure from media and fans has put Dravid on the defensive on sehwag issue and he feels he has to give his full suport of him atleast publicly. But i do feel that time is running out for Sehwag as both the practice games has finished and Sehwag is still hopelessly out of form. I feel the best thing to do now is not take any risks by fielding sehwag in group matches at least as we will have to win all the three matches convincibly if we have to have any chance of making the semifinals.
So we need to field our best eleven on current form with sourav and uthappa opening, then dravid, sachin, dhoni, yuvraj, pathan, bhajji, kumble, zaheer, munaf.

I was watching a cricket show on TV today and Imran Khan correctly put it, that we should play 5 specialist bowlers than trying an extra batsmen, I fully agree with that. In that case Sehwag should be the one to go out.

well..sehwag's actually not in form now..we've seen better days where he was a star...am sure there's a gud reason for pampering him..we've seen days when sachin was in form and when he was not..i guess da same's with sehwag too...perhaps..he would return to form soon..fingers crossd!!!

You are comparing people with different abilities. With all respect to Sehwag, I think he is too inferior to Sachin. Sachin has one of the best cricketing techniques as well as hardworking mind. I am sorry Sehwag lacks both of these. And if you check Sachin's career you not find 10 failed innings in a row. I am not bluffing here, you can check it out online. Because of his huge following, when Sachin fails even in 3 innings in a row, we feel he is not performing.

dats true..we feel terrible when such things happen in a row..and am not a fan of sehwag myself...i dint compare their abilities..i was giving an example...i know sehwag cant be compared to sachin.but i feel he could do better...mayb he should be chucked out from some matches...

I am not a Sehwag hater, but now he should go to domestic cricket and after getting runs can come back, but till then India can go with Ganguly, Tendulkar,Yuvraj can also open.Or they can also bring a new commer so that there is another opner for India

Exactly that is what I have opined. But, trying out Yuvraj at opener's slot is as risky as giving time for Sehwag to recover. I still feel Sachin and Ganguly are the best candidates, or maybe Uthappa.

Yes its true that Sehwag is being pampered by Dravid. If Sehwag is in form he will surely lead India to victory. But he should be trained to come back into form.
