HELP I need a Witty, or good Religous Quote or Antedote

Im doing a paper contrasting the religious ideals in two antebellum novels for a class im in, however i'd like to start it off with an antedote, or saying or just really any type of phrase or such that would fit. Thanks! :)

What are the main differnces in ideals? I'm not quite sure what you're looking for.

Puddnhead Wilson and Uncle Toms Cabin. The quote doesnt necessarily have to be contrasting. I just want something to put at the top of the page before my paper a statement or quote about religion. IE- "Going to church no more makes you a Christian than standing in a Garage makes you a car". :-)

I think why there are opposing views about the issues of the day. Equal opportunity racism etc...

I think it would be very easy to contrast either the northern anti slavery position with the southern one. Or even more provocative a black church versus the White one in the south. I would think the different hymns and theological perspective would come out.
