Hurricane season is almost here again. How many of you have been through one?

Hurrrican Storm Clouds heading towards Ambergris - This is a picture of clouds caused by a Hurricane which missed us about three years ago. The hurricane was still 150 miles off shore.

The first year I was in Belize Hurricane Keith hit our island with out much warning. By the time they could warn us it was to late to evacuate. All transportation off the island was shut down. so we had to ride out a category 4 hurricane that set on top of our island for 24 hours before moving. To say the least, it was an experience that I will never forget.

gosh it must have been a really horrible experience. I have never been through one. What thoughts went through your mind at that time?

It really was horrible. Two other ladies and I had just put all our life savings into this little 23 room hotel, bar and restaurant. It took our roof off and did loads of damage. We thought we were fully insured, but we weren't. Thats a whole nother story. Anyway, we were working so hard trying to get our guest to a safe place (we kept having to move as the ceilings kept falling in) that we didn't have much time to think. I just rmember praying that I would be able to see my son's again.
