what would you do if a friend asks to borrow money from you, but you know that your friend has already borrowed money from you a lot of times and has never payed even once? should i still trust him? even though i know he will just loose it on gambling and never pay me? he always does this to me, I am seriously getting pissed of his habit of borrowing from me then using it to pay gambling debts or using it to bet on those horse races. what do you think? help me help a friend who is in a serious situation.

It would depend on how good your relationship is with that fellow, as well as the reason for the loan request. If he is just a compulsive gambler, you can better off not giving him the money. Help him to get his life back instead.

we are good friends. he's an occasional drinking buddy. we were close friends when we were in high school. he says its for his son's medical check-up. since i am the kid's Godfather, i gave him the money this afternoon. but i made it clear to him that its the last time that i give him financial help. and i made him assure me that he will use it for his son's health and not for gambling and drinking. did i do the right thing o mighty lord wizard? (",) thanks again for being the first to respond.

Why don't you go the extra mile and bring your godson for the medical checkup? Then you can pay for him and this will make sure he won't use the money to gamble (which I won't rule out. When someone becomes addicted to gambling, anything is possible). Either that or you can just ask him to have the bill sent to your house for you to settle. So the mighty lord wizard has spoken. LOL :P PS.: Thanks for marking mine as best response. ^^

right now i can't accompany them to the doctor, maybe a few weeks from now, but i will keep tabs on his progress to see if he really did go to the doctor and not the race track. besides i already gave him the money and my warning that this is the last time he gets something from me. thank you again oh mighty lord wizard for coming to my discussion and leaving a well said comment! lol! thanks for giving me such good advices, your views are taken in well into consideration. and i do always give you a plus rating every time you commnet and when i comment. thanks friend!

You are in a very tough situation i know.. just tell him that you have given him a lot and you helped him as far as you could and you have nothing to do anymore to let him borrow money to u... Tell him a reason, just reason out... Tell him that you also need money and you have nothing to give him coz you also need it.

dont do it. if u are a good friend of him, dont lend him money anymore. coz it'll just indirectly encourage him to gamble and he'll never stop if this keeps going on. tell him ur rationale also for not lending money to him, dont get him into a wrong idea which will effect ur friendship with him.

well i already lent him the money this afternoon. but we had a mutual agreement that its the last time. if ever i get informed that he does use it for gambling and drinking. i would never talk to him again even if it means that we would become enemies.

In the past I have given money to a friend of mine, mainly to help her to pay the rent and the bills. However, she has never once paid me back and now I am very reluctant to help her again. I would be very cautious of giving any more to this friend of yours, particularly as they don't seem bothered about paying you back

that's a hard one I'd see what they needed it for and if they said for a bill I'd ask which one and pay it if I could that is. Are they using u just for money that something only u can answer. Go with your gut instinct...

i did give him the money because he says its for his son which is my Godson, but i did warn him that if he uses it for gambling or drinking, he better not show his face to me, and just consider our friendship over.
