How Do You Keep Track Of Your "discussions i've responded to"?

I don't have too many posts. As you can see I just went past the 200 mark. Even with this few, I find it hard to follow up on my "discussions i've responded to". I like to go back and check to see if the original poster or someone else had a question for me or needed me to clarify something I wrote. I plan to stay on myLot for a long time and this is starting to look like a lot of work. Do you go back to your 'responses'? For those of you who are in the 1000's, how do you do this? I know I will always respond more than I will start new discussions so I am wanting to be prepared. Thanks for your help:)

This is a problem almost everybody faces. With 200 it sure is easy getting back to discussions, but not with the number I have. I wonder how the ones who have more work this out. I feel so guilty sometimes that I can't get back to those discussions. I have written to myLot askign them to provide us the option of receiving email notifications when someone leaves a comment on our response on another discussion, and they said they would keep it in mind when they next update the site. Well let's see what they come up with, hope it's worth the wait and will solve this problem for good.

That sure would help and I'll wait with you. They could just add them in with the unresolved ones. I'll know that every thing in that tab needs my attention. Congratulations on your over 2000 posts:)

I actually try to go back as often as I can, since I usually answer to topics that actually attract my attention. The whole point of mylot is to keep a discussion going and in order to keep it going we have to be talking back and forth.

That's exactly how I feel. I just hope that one day soon myLot will find a way to make it easier for us to do this.

i do look back in my "discussions ive responded to" list. when i know ive responded to a discussion not long ago, i go to my "discussions ive responded to" list, but if it was a while, i usually type down a 2 or more letter word in the tabs in my "notebook" in the computer and save it so when i want to look at the responses, i go and search for it.

It appears that many people use the notepads to keep track of the ones they are interested in. Maybe I try and do the same 'til something betters comes. Thanks for comments.

That is what I am hoping to accomplish. I would hate to have someone think I didn't care about his comments. Thanks for your comments:)

After the best response has been chosen I consider discussion as closed and just go back and mark ratings on my threads, that I started. I usually keep a weekday mostly saturdays to check out the discussions I have responde to in previous week. If something interesting has been added then I respond to it or else just leave the thread.
even after best response if something interesting has been added by someone I do respond to it and I take tow to three weeks to give best response and sometimes when I can't decide which is the best response, I just keep waiting for someone to give a better answer. there is one topic to whichj many have gicven real nice reswponses but I still can not decide whom to give best response as all are equally good, so its still open to answers. I sometimes feel mylot should have a button to declare a discussion as resolved ike they have it on Yahoo.

I sometimes respond to discussions that are months old. Not sure I would like the idea of finding an interesting discussion only to realize I could not participate because myLot had marked it closed. It certainly would take away the "I wonder if someone had a question" issue though so I do see your point. My least favorite part is doing the 'best response'. Maybe it should say something like 'best response so far', because too many times I've seen much better responses come after the ones that were noted as Best Responses. Thanks for your comments.

Unfortunately other than using the discussions I've responded to tab (which takes you to the discussion) there is no easy way to find your response. You have to just scroll through the pages until you find yours. With a bit of luck that will be something the admins can look into one day, making it easier to find your response if it's on page 10 etc but as this point in time I just try to remember roughly what page my response is on.

I use the tab now, just thinking that if I've responded to 100 discussions, then I'm going into that tab looking for a hundred discussions. It's already alot, just imagine when I have a 1000 discussions running around:)

Every week I go back to all my 'discussions I've responded to.' It may take me a while during that day I'm on mylot, but I get it done. I'd like to have clarification if I was the one waiting on an answer, so I try to do it for others. It can be a headache, to do, but sometimes you do find a little fun in it.

oh, of course...part of the fun is having folks respond to your posts, whether you started the discussion or not. I do plan on continuing to do so, just wish there were an easier way.

It certainly takes a lot of patience to keep updating on whatever activities we're doing here. I try to go back to my discussions I've responded, then to discussions of my own. Sometimes, it will be took me a day before going back there. I'm getting dizzy going around and around what with my 3 tabs exclusively for mylot only. You'll get use to it. All the best.

Thanks charm88, it's the task of doing it for posts in the 1000s that has me concerned. Hopefully by that time there will be an easier way. Thanks for your comments.

Most often, I don't go back to a discussion. My responses are pretty clear cut. I did go back once, but it was because it was more of a heated debate and I was defending myself and my choices and I wanted to see what the response to that was. I'm just coming up to 200 posts myself, and I am going to be here for a long time, so I think the way I'm doing it is the best way for me.

I tend to write clear cut responses to, but it's not always about me or how I think others will understand what I've written. I would hope that what I may say, whether clear cut or not may sparke an idea or suggestion in someone else's mind and they may want to 'speak to me' so to speak. Thanks for your comments.

I'm having the same problem. I can't tell when someone makes a comment to my response so I am manually going back and searching each one. I have made a suggestion to myLot last week that we would like a way to search if this is possible. No one responded so I don't know if they even got it.

They probably did, but I imagine they probably receive 100s of emails from us each day. In the mean time I'm sure we'll just keep doing it the way we are. Thanks for your comments.

We sure do nommy76, but I have to go through and open each and everyone of the "discussion i've responded to" to see if something needs my attention. Thanks for your comment though and that's how I do it now.

Yes, myLot does not have a feature. You need to open the link "discussions I've responded" and then go through the discussion. Its time consuming and troublesome. That also leaves a bad impression on the participant. When I ask for clarification from the responder on his discussion, if he does not respond then I don't feel the discussion is complete.

Incomplete is one thing, I usually feel totally ignored:) But I do know it's not intentional, just too many to go through. Thanks for commenting!

i am able to track the discussions i started coz i ticked the box where mylot will send email to me and everytime someone replies, i know it because of the notification emails. you should update your settings.

sure, it does that for the discussions You have started. I am talking about the comments I may make on someone else's discussion. Those we do not receive notification emails for. Thanks for your comments.

I know that you already know about the "discussions I've responded to" link, and I have read several responses suggesting that you write down the ones that you want to keep track of to check back on. Since there isn't any way to be notified if someone comments on your response, why not bookmark them. Create a folder in your bookmarks, then you could go back and check them in a couple of weeks to see if they have been responded too. If you want to keep track of all of the discussions you have responded to, there isn't really any better way right now than how it is set up. I wish there was an easier way, but so far I don't think any of us has found it.

well kelly60 you know I was looking for that magical answer but so far no. I have though, received some useful answers and realize that I'm not the only one who wishes there was an easier way to follow up. Thanks for your comments.

I still have a few post, and yes I go back to the "Discussions I've responded to" because I'm eager to know the reaction or comment of the person who wrote the discussion regarding my response. I guess this venue/site is intended in order for discussion to go through, then how can the discussion go if we dont go back or read what we have responded, in case there are clarification or notes we want to add.
I understand its very hard to those who have posted thousands of comments and discussions already, but I guess there's no harm in going back once in a while.

unfortunately I am not talking about new responses to your discussions or your friends' responses to your discussions. What I am talking about is any followup to comments you make to other discussions. Really 2 different things. I see this is your first post, so how have you been 'notified' about any discussions? uuhhhmmm!
