How do you come up with your Lush Bath Cocktails?

In a previous discussion, people posted their favorite bath cocktails. Question is, how did you come up with these combinations? I have found yummy cocktails on the Lush NA forum and have also discussed cocktails with Lush SAs in the stores. I also like to make my own cocktails by pairing items up with similar scents. Do you cocktail products on the basis of scent, color or by suggestion from the forum or SAs?

I don't cocktail that often, but when I do I usually stick to the basics. I will either get ideas from the LUSH NA forum, or I will just match scents. I have this fear that I will end up maing something gross, so I will do things like Black Pearl and Comforter because they are pretty much the same scent. There will be times when I'll get a bit more adventurous if I'm trying to make my bath smell like a discontinued product. If I do come up with my own invention, I usually only mix things with Temple of Truth. I find that bubble bar to be pretty mild and sandlewood groups well with a lot of things.

I just go with what I think are similar scents or scents that will compliment each other if combined. I've not gone wrong so far, although a friend recommended Avobath and Marathon together. I think it sounds horrible, so I've not had the urge to try it yet!

I like to get some ideas from the NA forum and the IF, but for the most part I just tend to cocktail similar scents.

Well, I don't live close enough to stop by a store, so when I want a cocktail I just rummage through my stash and pick out things that fit my mood. Sometimes it's a couple things from a similar scent line, sometimes I experiment. Can't decide whether I want a minty bath or something fruity citrus? I mix 1/2 a christingly with a still life (Try it sometime, mint and orange are actually very refreshing together)! I also get inspiration from other etailers, like I'll be surfing the Skindazzles site planning my next order and read a scent description that sounds amazing, and maybe I've got the main notes in my lush bath stash...

I either use my nose to find combinations that I think would work together, or look on the NA forum for inspiration. Some of the ideas people give sound absolutely vile, but actually work quite well. Don't be afraid to try anything! I think most of my SA's think it is a sin to mix bath stuff up, as they are so amazing on their own. They're right. But no harm in trying, eh? x

I'm a little lucky because I manage a LUSH store. So, when I have all my work done or just a little free time between tasks, I make up cocktails. Based on same smells, similar smells, similar effects, colors, whatever! My "secret trick" is taking the two items I have in mind, rub them together, and then stick my nose between them and smell. If I like it yay, if not, I try again until I find soemthing i do like.
