Well, it is pretty heavily discouraged in most socities and illegel in some because of the increased risk of birth defects. Recessive or mutated genes are more likely to show up if close relatives reproduce because their DNA is similar. First cousins or closer have the highest chance of this happening. Once you get to second cousins and farther out on the family tree, your pretty much safe genetically speaking, because you would only have one set of great grandparents in common out of seven total, instead of the one out of three that first cousins would have.

In our family it is still a no since it is still of the same blood. I really don't know what is wrong with marrying a relative but as to the culture, we see it immoral marrying a cousin since they are related. Well for me it is still awkward and I find it not a good sign since (just an opinion)it will make a bad immage to others and even to the family.

Its not illegal though society dictates its not moral and acceptable. Yes, there were studies conducted on the biological effects of having this kind of relation on the offspring but I THINK no law explicitly prohibits first degree relatives to marry each other.
I almost had this relationship before with my first cousin. We're just matured enough to handle the situation. We both know that we can't be together no matter how much we fight for it. And so, we never gave ourselves the chance to nourish the mutual feelings. Right now, we're very much okay and he already have a girlfriend. =)

I think its legal..But the only problem with that is medical..Many hidden recessive traits may get exposed depending up on the degree of your relationship with him/her...The babies born to those couples are more likely to get si=ome kind of congenital anomalies..So better do a karyotyping and make sure that no such genes or traits are running in the family before you proceed with the marriage...
