I am not medically trained to confirm that Health Supplementsa are a must for us as we grow older.
However, through presonnal experience, I would give a resounding YES
When I was younger at the age of 45+ I was very fit. Never had any medical problems, except for a normal cold/flu. Which will be over with a few medicatiions.
Early last year, one day I experinced a slight numbness in my right hand and after abour 24 hrs my right leg had some sort of a feeling. When I walk I was drifting to one side.
Suspecting that I might get a stroke, I went to the hospital. Yes! I was confirmed that I was having a mild stroke. Thanks god it was only mild.
I was admitted in hospital to go for further medical checks. While through the check, they told me that the pain I had in my lower legs were not due to muscular but is due to the narrowing of my blood vessels in both my leg. To cut short, I was place on medication and observation.
After abou 4 - 5 mths, I had a slight pain in both my arms, guess what, they said that there is "degeneration of my cervical"
This is when I realised that I have negelected myself in taking care of myself. In external apperance I was fit but inside me things were not good. The medical officers also found other problems.
This is when, I regretted for not taking the advise of my wife who always insisted me to take health supplements. This she told me some ten years back and always kept talking to me about the supplement. I usually brush her off saying, hey, I am fit can't you see.
I wonder if you are one of those people who have my believe that I am very fit, or you have taken the safe road by taking the health supplements.

Interesting story about the pain and stroke, I didn't know that and I will have to look out for it as well. I rarely take vitamins, I guess that I should

As you know my Hubby doesn't have good health and I always make sure he has fresh fruit and vegetables every day , he is on quite a lot of medication so I don't want to risk adding to that when It might not be suitable , but I do agree we all must look after ourselves xx
