Well, it seems most women prefer carat size opposed to the diamond's cut, clarity, color (also known as the four C's of diamonds). My husband and I went together to get my ring as he wanted to make sure I would be happy with it. We didn't have much money at the time, but luckily there happened to be a big sale going on where we got it. We had two to choose from within our price range and size (I didn't want anything bigger than a quarter carat). At the time I didn't mind either, but my husband preferred the one that was a little more in price as it looks almost perfect (the other one was cloudy looking). I sure am glad my husband chose the one that looked better. If he had gotten the other one probably would have gotten a better one by now!

It can help in choosing the diamond you want for your future spouse.

The normal tradition is to save 2 months salary to buy the ring. The size of a diamond depends on your budget. If you want a solitaire, any jewelry person can help you. If you want to buy the engagement ring and wedding band togetherm then the diamond would be a tad smaller. Its up to you!

I think it depends. You can buy the bigger and more beautiful one if you can afford. Most important thing I maintain would be your grilfriend's appreciation.Wish you good luck.
