do you still, sometimes, do what your mom tells you

I'm going on vacation with my girlfriend who I live with. At the end of the week we're going to a wedding in FL. In addition to some other items I needed new tennis shoes. My mother said "get some white ones to go with your white socks." I found some white ones. Then I saw some back ones that I liked better. I was in that store for a half hour trying to decide, knowing if I got the clack ones I would hear "I told you to get white ones." So be honest, do we all, to a certain extent, still do what our parents tell us to do?

Yes, I do. I guess lot of my preferences were developed from my mom's point of view since we grew up closely with her. So what she suggests greatly influences my own likes as well so I can be sure that it's actually something that I would also like. After all mama knows best.

Actually yes, lol. Although I may be an adult for years, but if my mom tells me to do something, I still feel obliged to obey her unless it is something really out of line. But even now, when I buy something or do something I find that I am still being influenced by her. Unwittingly and unbidden, I will automatically be thinking - will this please mom? If I dye my hair red would mom flip? Oh yes, no matter how I try to block out the influence it is there. I suppose the child in me is still in awe of her although the professor and adult in me sometimes will remind me that I am old enough to make a wise decision. Bless our moms!
