I'm satisfied with my AMD and it can handle all my computer jobs specially drawing plans and graphics, I don't see a need for a change unless the difference is really dramatic and it warrants the cost. I'm interested to know more about intel's 2 core and I'll check out the advantages.

The Intel Core 2 Duo is the fastest processor available for any and all tasks. AMD processors however are still great. The AMD Athlon64 processors are still far superior to Intel Pentium 4s. If you are happy with your processor, then there is no reason to change. I'm perfectly happy with my Athlon64 X2 3800. It's perfect for the gaming and other tasks I do. Since gaming performance is dependent on the Video card rather than the CPU, I have no desire to change for at least another year.

Even I am a great AMD fan, but I don't see a bright future at for the next few years. Because if you look at the roadmap of both of the companies, Intel is well ahead of AMD. AMD is just releasing its 65nm technology, while intel is going to unveil its 45nm technology soon and heard that research is already underway at the 30nm technology.

I have read in some forums that Intel beats AMD in a one-on-one battle but as far as Quad CPUs are concerned, Intel's price for one cpu is the same as 1 package for AMD- that is 1 pair of processors which beats intel as far as price is concerned

The other poster is right. Intel's release schedule has them set to dominate AMD for at least another year, maybe two. AMD dominated Intel for almost 5 years. There's a good chance Intel will have the next few years before AMD can retake the lead. The last new idea from AMD was socket AM2, which I consider to be a disappointment. It has no advantage over socket 939 and uses more expensive RAM.

AMD rocks and I'm sure it will launch something bigger in some time.
