well i got some answers from various text books,i like to share it with u people...........
answer.1:
the exciting new effort to make computers think.machines with minds,in the full and literal sense.the activities that we associate with human thinkin,activities such as decision making,problem solving,learning...
answer.2:
the art of creating machines that perform functions that require intelligence when performed by people...
answer.3:
the study of how to make computers do things at which,at the moment,people are better..
answer.4:
the study of mental faculties through the use of computational models..
the study of computations,that make it possible to percieve,reason and act..
computational intelligence is the study of design of intelligent agents.
AI is concerned with intelligent behaviour in artifacts...

That's good. If you are interested in AI, you can choose to pursue this subject at higher level. This field is still relatively new but it is an emerging field. Who knows.. you might be the next Bill Gates! ;-)

The trem artificial intelligence was first used by John McCarthy who considers it to mean "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines".
It can also refer to intelligence as exibited by an artificial entity. AI is studied in overlapping fields of computer science, psychology, philosophy, neuro science and engineering.
