I would really like to get a pug. My roommates already have a cat and a bunny. I have a hamster. Anyway! What are some things to know before buying a pug?
Are they friendly with other animals (cats in particular)? Do they live well in an apartment? Do they like to play outside?
I've never known anyone who had a pug so I am clueless!

Every dog has its own personality. It will get along with cats if you discipline it to behave. But unlike a cat or a bunny, a dog needs to be walked. Often. They don't have litter boxes, so you need to be ready to walk a dog often. IF you get a puppy, you have to understand that their little bodies can't hold it for more than 4 hours until they are at least 4 months old. So you will have to get up in the middle of the night and walk them. You also need to know how to train and discipline a dog. Sure, pugs are small, so you might think jumping up is cute, but other people won't. When it comes to dogs, they ALL want to please. So you need to be consistent and persistent with discipline and training. This is not an animal you bring home, put in a cage and play with when you feel like. Dogs do take more time than most other pets - even cats, and you have to be prepared for that.
I should know - I have 6 dogs!! (the smallest of which being twice the size of a pug! The largest of which weighing more than ME!)

Pugs are cute little dogs and make great pets. They do shed their hair and snore like freight trains. They can also have some respiratory problems as thier faces are pushed in. My inlaws raise and breed them. They have had 2 of theirs scratch and pop their eyeball out of the socket so they needed to have their eyelids sewn shut. They love to play, sleep on you and eat.
Pugles, which is a beagle pug mix are also very cute and easy to care for minus the respiratory issues as their noses are not so smooshed in. Good luck with getting your puppy.
