If you really no nothing in swimming then you are missing a lot in your life I think.
The swimming is not only an exercise but it also is part of pleasure you should get in your life.
On the very moment you feel you can float on water the feeling is great.
Do learn it as soon as possible.
Fix up a coach you can learn in a week or so.
All the best from oarnamav.

I know only half swimming, i.e., swimming only about 5 meters or so, yes, you could also make it as i don't know swimming, i have tried to learn swimming and went for classes, etc for that purpose but finally had to give up due to some reasons.

I've been swimming for as long as I can remember and I've been teaching my children to swim since they were just babies. I'm lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of Canada - surrounded by water. We've got lakes, rivers, creeks and the ocean all within distance from house and spend plenty of time - especially during the summer at all of them. Knowing how to swim and be water safe is a necessity for my family.

I learned to swim when I was very young. My parents thought it was a very important lesson for me to learn incase I ever go out on a boat and have to jump or ever just fall out at least if I dont have a life jacket I can get myself to safety and I wouldent dround.

Yes I know how to swim As do all my boys and grandkids
I was taught a very young age. I think I could swim before I could walk So my dad tells me LOL We also had to go to swimming lessons.
I think every child should learn to swim at a young age.
We also taught our sons to be able to upright a canoe, get back in and how to save themselves as well as others All without being able to touch bottom. They too all had swimming lessons
If you get the chance to learn by all means I would go It is great fun and excelllent exercise

I know how to swim. I think I leared how to swim when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Is it necessary to know how to swim? I'd say that depends on what your life is like. I feel that everyone that is never in, on or near water should know how to swim. You should be able to save yourself or someone else that fell in and is about to drown. If you want to learn i'd check if there is an adult swim school in your area. It is not very hard to learn a little bit!
