How do you know if you are a "good" mom?

I struggle with this question a lot. My children go to a very good school where a lot of the families have money. I feel like the only mom who can't remember their son's library book every monday or the mom who makes an organic lunch for their child every day. I mean I want my kids to have a great upbringing but am I a bad mom for not doing what these other "perfect" moms are. I admit I don't have a homemade meal every night for dinner but is it so wrong that I feed my kids chicken nuggets 3 nights a week because thats what they like and I don't want to fight with them over eating their meatloaf. I have a girlfriend who actually makes sure she has items from every food group at dinner time and forces her kids to eat it so they have a healthy diet. Every meal becomes a stand off between her and her children. Is it wrong that I want to enjoy my meal with my kids? She also makes sure they drink a little more that the daily amount of water your supposed to have, just to prevent kidney stones or uti's. Am I a bad mom because I don't. Let me know what you think and if you have any "perfect" mom stories.

Sounds to me like you are doing a fine job! Too many parents view their kids as a "project" that has to be done just right. I agree, meal times should be pleasant, not battlegrounds. Don't compare yourself to other moms, if your kids are happy and healthy, that's what counts! And don't sweat the library books, there are bigger things in life to worry about! Just enjoy your kids while they are growing up because before you know it, they'll be on their own!

Thank you. It just seems like parents are over scheduling their children so much that their not taking the time to enjoy what little time they have with them until they grow up and move out.
