physical pain vs emotional pain

what is the greatest amount of physical pain you have ever endured? would you rather be hurt physically or emotionally? which is easier to endure?
for me, the greatest physical pain ive ever endured is giving birth...but no matter how painful it is i'd rather be hurt in the same amount of physical pain than emotional pain.
scars of the skin heals easily but scars of the heart doesn't.
