Oh claudia, I do hope that you will be able to travel once you retire. It is wonderful to be able to see in real life the sites and places previously only seen in books or on television. Depends on whether or not you like camping etc, as we do and so that makes it possible for us to travel further or for longer when we camp and save on paying out for accommodation.
This photo is of one of the lookout towers at the Maritime Interpretative Centre at Albany in Western Australia. It was in fact erected and manned by members of the US Forces during World War II and was an early warning system should any of the enemy try to reach Australia from the south west.

You just had to rub that in, didn't you? LOL. We retire next year, and I hope we can do more traveling then. Be sure to post pictures of your trips on here so we can see them. Thanks for your response.

You are so right, Hush. Think of all the places you could go, things you could see, and people you could meet. What a great idea.

There are many things that I've always wanted to do. One thing is ride in a hot air balloon. I'm not sure why, since I've never been on an airplane and I'm scared of those, but there's just something adventurous about riding in a hot air balloon that I'd like to try.

I haven't done that either, but I do love to watch them as they pass over our house.

I have always wanted to be my own boss. Owning my a business has been a dream. I have been told that I should open a bakery/lunch shoppe. I do have a knack for baking. My kids would be great in the lunch shoppe. One is a cook, one can do dishes, and the girls can wait tables. The hubby could be the janitor. He loves to clean.

I can't say there is anything I've ALWAYS wanted to do - but then I have more years on the board than you do.
As a child I wanted to fly - literally, that is. My dreams almost always consisted of people chasing me and I would flap my arms and fly just out of their reach. I had a very unhappy childhood and my constant desire was to be able to fly.
My life changed when I was 22 and my one desire then was to have children. I had five wonderful sons and have seen them grow into five wonderful men. Three are married to wonderful women and have given me five wonderful grandchildren.
I have been involved in children's ministry for many, many years and have nejoyed every minute. I organise and coordinate many children's camps and holiday clubs and at one stage I really wanted to do this full time. While I still do this several times a year, I think I'd better give up wanting to do it full time and let some younger ones take over.
What do I want to do now? Exactly what I am doing. I am completely satisfied with my life. I'll just continue loving, praising and serving my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and watch for His coming.
My motto is: So live, that when you come to die, you have nothing left to do, but die. (And I must add that this is a good motto for ANY age group).

I remember wanting to fly when I was younger. I still think it would be a lot of fun. I'm very glad your life has turned out so well. One of my sisters was a missionary overseas for 17 years. She had eye problems and had to return to the States after that, but she continued her education and even had a women's street ministry while she was getting her master's degree. She also worked in a home for neglected and abused children, which is where she met her husband (she worked with his sister there). I don't think there are many people who want to do exactly what they're doing. God has blessed you for all you've done. May He continue to bless you. P.S. I love your motto.

What I've always wanted to do is something I've done several times before but still want to do again.
Get together with all 11 of my surviving brothers and sisters, relive old times, talk about our kids and grandkids and then break out the Trivia set.

Now that's what I call a "get together". Sounds like some of the ones my family has. Just wish we could have them more often. It's harder today since we all live so far apart.

It is hard to get everybody together at once, that only happens every few years. But we have regularly scheduled reunions every six months and everyone who can get there goes.

I've always wanted to go on a surprise trip. For instance... If my fiance were to surprise me. I'd come home from work and he'd have our bags packed and say"I have a surprise for you". Then we'd go somewhere interesting for the weekend. Like Italy.. Or Ireland... or Sweden... Or Australia. lol

I've always wanted to wake up one day and find myself in Abraham Lincoln's bed in the White House...hehehe. It reminded me of an anedote about Senator Margraret Smith who was asked by a reporter what she would do if one day she woke up and found herself in the White House. She responded, "Well, son, I would go post haste to Mrs. Truman, apologize and leave immediately."

Too funny, gifana. A friend of mine said if she ever got to be President, I could spend the night in the Lincoln bedroom. I'd vote for her in a split second to get to do that. One day I'd really love to tour the White House.

Be completely,100% spontaneous! I did this recently in moving from Alaska to California on a whim.. in one week I had dropped out of school, packed up my apartment, shipped my car to Seattle.. and was on a plane to CA.
It's the spice of life.

I have always wanted a job where I would travel as part of it. Tried to get that kind of a job a few times, however they never hired me. Maybe I will join the Missionaries when I am older and then travel to countries as part of them. That would be even better wouldn't it!??

One of my sisters was a missionary for 17 years. It was a rough life since she had to depend on donations for her lifelihood, not a regular salary. However, the "benefits" are great. Come to think of it, it might depend on which missionary group you were affiliated with...some might have regular salaries. If you do this, check it out beforehand. My sister absolutely loved her decision to become a missionary. She only returned to the US when she had eye problems that had to be treated, and it forced her to stay here. She then continued to get her master's degree and worked as a missionary in the US. She's retired now, but still very active with her church. She has a bible study group that meets weekly and also teaches Sunday School for mature women. I don't think you ever really retire. ;)
