Why do you buy/use Lush?

I think we probably all have different reasons, for me it's mostly because they don't test on animals and the fact that everything smells so real and authentic. I find that after starting to use Lush I can't bring myself to use much else as it all smells so fake. I can practically just smell the chemicals. Also, I really love pampering myself and taking long baths!
So what's it for you, why do you like to buy and use Lush even though it's not cheap? Is it because of the ethics, the fact that everything is fresh and handmade or is it some other reason? Tell me!

I think I buy Lush because the products are unique. There aren't many other companies I buy products from, period. I often buy from 'green' or enviromentally friendly companies and Lush right there with them. I like Lush because the variety of soaps I can choose from, the unique bath products (they were the first to do bath bombs and no one else does bubble bars) and I like scents (yummy Karma and HIWTK). I think I pay the high prices because I can't get dupes of the products, so they are worth it to me.

Oh, a lot of posters have already beat me to the punch with this one, but I'll list my reasons for loving LUSH anyway.
1) the scents - Really, I can't think of a company that has scents like LUSH. The scents just seem more real. I remember that after I started using LUSH, I went back to an old Body Shop product to use up the bottle. My boyfriend got one wiff of me and informed me that he liked the other stuff I was using a whole lot better. It seems that this one smelled too strong and too fake to him.
2) Less irritation - I never really considered myself to be someone with sensative skin, but once you realize how much a better a milder product works on you, you can realize that you were abusing your poor skin for years. For instance, I can't use products from Bath and Body Works. Their heavy perfumes make me sneeze and dried out my skin something awful. And yet, everyone I knew just loved the stuff. I found a few items from the Body Shop that worked a bit better, but then I found LUSH. I never thought that I would be able to skip my usual regiment of covering my entire body with lotion after a shower...but LUSH products can let me do just that sometimes. Amazing!
3) Skincare - Fresh Farmacy had done such amazing things for my acne that I could cry. Seriously, not even the dermatologist did as good of a job. I will never use anything else as long as LUSH keeps making this miracle product!

I know what you mean. The stuff the doctor gave me was terrible. My skin cleared up, but is also dried and peeled. I don't have that problem when I use LUSH.

I first discovered Lush when I dropped off a resume to work there one xmas. When I got the job, I quickly learned all about the company and the products! I was attracted to them because of their environmental policies, reduced packaging and preservatives, and absolutely no animal testing. Now I have my staples, which are mostly skincare items I have to have, because they simply work better for me than anything else I've ever tried (and I've tried out a LOT of different brands).

I would have to agree with all the reasons listed above. I buy LUSH becuase it's more environmentally friendly .The Body Shop used to recycle, but they don't any longer, in fact the last time I brought some clean empty bottle by for recycling, the SA looked at me like I had 3 heads.
I also love the fragrences from LUSH, and like 5000ml I have been spoiled by them! Now when I smell other products, I can smell the chemicals...and the fake "fruit" or "flower" fragrance.
But most importantly I love the results I get from LUSH products. Most especially the skin care. Fresh Farmacy and Aquamarina have really changed my skin for the better. I also really like the sold shampoos' They last MUCH longer and my hair (which is cury/frizzy) has much better results.
All that said...there is a limite to the money I can and will spend on LUSH. Right now I am definately picking and choosing "must have" products, as opposed to buying for treats.

I buy Lush because their skincare products work well for me. I used to buy Lush bath bombs exclusively until the price hike. I have found that I really like a lot of Fantasy Bath bombs and it doesn't hurt that they are much cheaper than Lush. I will probably still buy Lush bombs and bubble bars occasionally though.

I forgot to add..
I have yet to find another etailer that sells a bubble bar of comparable quality to the Lush ones. I was thinking of trying to order some Cherriflip ones but when I went back to the site it seems like they aren't selling them anymore.
