As with anything else online you will want to make sure of the company before doing business with them. It would be a good idea to make sure they are with the BBB and find consumer reviews about them before you make up your mind. Merryl Lynch seems to be good but I usually do not take care of financial issues online. You might want to try local companies where you live before choosing one online. As far as I know Ameritrade is ok too but I don't know much about them either. Good luck ;-)

Hi! Thanks for the response! My local broker will charge $50 per transaction (gulp!) and they only trade stocks on certain days. That's a definite disadvantage should the need arise to sell a stock immediately. Online brokers do charge as little as $7.00 per transaction. I have been thinking of possibly Ameritrade of TDPriceWaterhouse. As you said, I will do my homework! Thanks, sweetie! :-)
