I'm not sure if anyone but Aussies know what I'm talking about but here is Australia, the Heart Foundation put a tick on supposedly healthy foods. So, when people go shopping, if it has the 'tick of approval' on it, then it's supposed to be healthy.
Anyway, I found out recently that some of McDonald's foods have the Heart Foundation Tick. This is just crap! This only encourages people to eat take away.
Apparently, the Heart Foundation has stated that the Tick does not mean that it is healthy, but it is a 'healthier' option with what else is available. This is so misleading as some people rely on the 'tick' to pick healthy foods for themselves and their families.
Your thoughts and opinions on this please.

Great topic. Here in Canada the Heart Foundation hasn't gone that far YET. But I'm just wondering, Doesn't McDonalds over their have things like salad's on the menue? They do here.
Mind you if the Heart Foundation is anything like the FDA, they probably have the ticks on the big mac and fries and coke not the healthy stuff.

Hi Missytia, Yes I am an Aussie as well and would have to say you are right by this it is appauling how the Heart Foundation put an approval on McDonald's food, which is not that healthy for any of us, and I would agree with you completely, this is wrong to have that tick on these products.
