I will try to keep this brief. I just spent a considerable amount of time explaining that because Barack Obama attended a muslim school when he was 6 years old, for two years this does not make him sympathetic to terrorist causes. He's not a Muslim, but even if he was should it matter? Do we see terrorist ties in Obama? No we don't. Unless you believe his middle name being Hussein has to be proof. Islam can be interpreted in many different ways, just as Christianity can. I think it's sad that we have hit the point in this country where the word Muslim is synonymous with terrorist. It's like saying Catholic automatically means homophobe. This is getting ridiculous that the focus is being taken away from the real issues this country faces to argue what relgion someone is or is not. But yet here I will sit for the upcoming months defending whether or not Barack is Muslim, just to try to get some facts out there. Do you think religon should really matter in this day and age? Or can we just judge people for who they are?

I agree and disagree with you ...
I agree that not all muslims are terrorists, just like not all men are pigs, or not all blonds are stupid ! those are stereotypes ... and it is true that some blonds are stupid but it is true as well that some brunettes are sttupid as well !!! one should not generalize on a few exemples
I disagree when you say we should judge people for who they are ... on the word judge ... I think we don't have to "judge" people, no matter what ... who are we to judge someone ? why our standards sould be better than theirs ?
I would say that we should let people BE and accept who they are and not try to make them fit in our biaed standards
thank you for the topic ... it is very true ... but religion has always been a very sensitive topic ...

Rick, thank you for the response. You're right, we shouldn't have to judge people in general. I guess I should've been more specific and said "judge the candidates". Because essentially they are putting their lives and values out there to be scrutinized and to a large extent judged. I have a friend that is of Pakistani descent, and when we have been out together I have actually had people ask me if I'm "sure I want to hang out with him". It has nothing to do with his character, he is a wonderful person, these people are just ignorant.

I think that religion and who has had an affair or is divorced has nothing to do with politics. I don't care whether Osama went to a Muslim school actually I think it gives him (perhaps) a deeper insight into the terrorist promlems facing us.

That's the way I see it too. Since when is being well educated a bad thing? I never pay attention to religion, but I think the media is making too big of a deal over this Muslim thing, and unfortunately people pay attention to it.

Definitely. Not all muslims are terrorists for Islam has always been known as a religion of peace. I know of many muslim whose only concern in life aside from their religion is their business. They are friendly and are against terrorism. There are many peace loving people in muslim community and the word muslim should never be equated with terrorism.

Well there are millions of muslims in the world, and ALL over the world, not only in the Middle East. If all (or even a small minority of them - say 1%) were terrorists then the world would be VERY unstable, wouldn't it?
Millions of muslims existed during world wars 1 and 2, probably the most unstable time in recent history and yet muslims did not play a big role in those wars, christians did.
Whether or not we like to, we do judge other people.
