quitting a new job, is there any legal problem?

my friend just got her job a week ago as a day care teacher,she already signed a contract saying she have to stay w/ the school for a year. she has 1 kid a year and a half old w/c her aunt took care of.everytime she went home she noticed that the diaper her baby wore is the same diaper when she left her at home.she cried of seeing how her daughter is suffering.she's worried that her baby is not been taking good care of. she wants to quit already but then she remembered that she signed a contract..can anybody tell me if she can quit without having any legal problem?or how manage this problem?
