the best person to know your daughter at her age is YOU. the best gift you can give to a child her age is something that she can easily appreciate.
better check what she likes to do and what she yearns to have. have you heard her ask you for something lately? LISTEN.
if she asks to have quality time with you, why not dedicate a day each month that you will have a mother-daughter day! it's a time to bond and do girl stuff... without the boys hanging around.
if she asks you about a lot of things, so many questions everyday, why not buy her a book every month. i recently encountered a book series that we bought for my niece. there's a WHAT (book that answers: what do you call the ... etc.); WHEN (answers the period or dateof an event etc); WHERE (places in the world etc.) and others. you can start with her interests. the book series is great. it also helps in her studies too.
if she gets a little bored every now and then, why not give her some projects or tasks to complete each month if not every week or so. if she wants to harness creativity or if she's fond of art or music, perhaps she can have art projects or musical piece or instrument to learn.
if she's bugging you for ages about an expensive toy or any stuff of her fancy and the fact is it's expensive for you to buy for now, why not involve her in a savings goal. a savings goal helps you and your kid to plan when to realistically buy something you want or need and know how much you can afford to save for it and for how long. this way, kids put more value for something they were involved with in achieving.
we should plan the gifts that we give to children coz it shapes their outlook in life on how to get things or achieve things for themselves. we don't want to spoil them too much, don't we?
also, gifts with relevance are more appreciated, more remembered and more valued. and when kids do, it makes it feel better even if that has caused a dent to our savings or budget.
you express your love to your kids in the way you choose your gifts :)

What about a charm bracelet? You can start off with one charm and the bracelet and then give her a charm every month or every other month. That would be really precious. She can keep it through the years and know that she means the world to you. That is one thought. Maybe someone else can come along with a good idea as well.

Open a bank account for her. Putting money away for her while she is so young gives compounding interest time to work it's magic. Just putting in $20 a month starting now will give her $7,600 (at a 6% interest rate and after taxes) by the time she is 25.
This can be a great gift for a young adult starting out in life. Also, you won't risk "spoiling" her with monthly gifts that she may grow so accustomed to that she does not appriciate or takes for granted. Besides, you never outgrow a good savings account.

I'm not really sure. I don't have kids, so I have never looked into a college fund or anything. My father opened a joint savings account for me and him when I was a kid and deposited money into it from time to time and then transferred control to me when I got a job.
You could go to your bank and ask them which would give you the better savings interest rates, etc. and work out a plan that is best suited to you.
Good Luck.

a camera with a hello kitty design! it is sooo cute that your sweetie can take pictures with her anytime of the day anywhere! it's so easy to use and that your child will be very thankful about having that.
