Mutual fund is a diversified pool of stocks picked and managed by a team of funds manager. Though it should be a relatively safer investment option compared to buying individual stocks, be aware that if there's a big market plunge, the mutual funds are not spared since most would still be tied to equities. I believe mutual funds or ETF linked to gold should be part of your portfolio to cushion against inflation & adverse market conditions.
