My friend is 16 and his brother who is 25 is supposed to be taking care of him. His brother kicked him out though and he has no where to go. His dad is dead and his mother is in a prison/rehab. How could I obtain guardianship? What are the qualifications?

Wow, that is really sad. I feel so bad for your friend. His brother shouldn't have kicked him out, he is all he has. Is your friend staying with you now? Maybe you should speak to Social Services. Does your friend have other relatives that would take him in, such as cousins, aunts, grandparents? Let us know how your friend is doing. This is a worry, he is too young to be out on the streets and taking care of himself. I pray everything works out, and you are a very good person for helping your friend!

Wow... that's harsh. Your friend can approach the social services or something to seek help. At the same time, if there's a black and white evidence his brother is suppose to be a legal guardian in the absence of the parents, he can get him into trouble (ie: revenge!) *LOL*
