Is it Humanism or Patriotism?

What is foremost on your mind? You are in a war like situation. And you find your sworn enemy fallen on the street. What is the foremost on your mind? Is it humanism or patriotism?

humanism has to be the first priority because wars are mostly political and people who are in politics never participate in war .

I second that notion, but I don't feel that it is how the world really works. I think that most of the time in a war situation patriotism comes before humanism just because that is how soldiers are trained.
