Our lips are red because the skin that covers them is thinner than the rest of our body and allows the blood's colour to show.

yes, and that's what it makes the lips good and tender to kiss than the rest of the body parts. if you can imagine our lips has the same color and skin thickness like that of our skin... Lol! it looks funny, isn't it?
