when i was 7 years old, i remembered my mom teaching me and my younger sister how to wash dishes. then my elder brothers already know how to wash dishes. then one day, she said, ok, you take turns in washing dishes. well, it was really nice that we take turns in washing dishes because we are given the chance to do the household chores in washing dishes fairly. but lately, i noticed that every after meals, my mom asks who's turn is it to wash dishes, it's not mine, i already washed the dishes. them we all start arguing. funny stuff, though, now i laugh at my childhood days. well, do you take turns in washing dishes?

well i guess we had the same situation when we are in our childhood. but it's fine, cause we learn alot on it, one is responsibility.

No, I had 2 boys and they did not do the dishes very well. They were taught, but mainly to just put them in the dishwasher. Both boys are grown now and i think they do the dishes for their wives. I don't even do the dishes very often. I never liked it, so now I drink from a soda or water bottle and eat on paper plates. None of the dishes except a fork or spoon is even mine. Everyone who messes up their dishes can clean them up is my philosophy. LOL

My children are 11 and 3. When I have requested my 11 year old to do the dishes she does a pretty bad job at it. The dishes will be greasy or not clean enough. So I figure instead of haveing to examine every dish or find them put away greasy I just do them myself. This way I know they are clean and do not have to worry about pulling out a gross dish from the cupboard. No matter how many times I have shown her the correct what she refuses to do them properly.. lol

We always took turns washing dishes when I was growing up but with such a large family it was easy to lose track of whose turn it was, so it always seemed to be my turn. I decided when I got married that the same thing wasn't going to happen in my house, so I bought a dishwasher.

I remember those days. When my older brothers thought they were too good to do the chores or dishes, the next batch of three kids started doing them, then I got stuck (though I was the oldest of the 2nd batch) while my brother went out and had fun with their friends. They were always sneaky, saying they had it done to my mom, then leaving me with it. She would come in and knew, but told me I had to do it or dad would be upset. Man, I hated that, because by then the 3rd set of kids of two were born and laundry had piled up and dishes were a mile high.

No, there is no such problem in our home yet. Actually, we have a servant at home and she washes all dishes early in the morning. We just use dishes and put them into a basket and we have neough dishes to use 2 times in a day but sometimes, my Mom washes herself dishes of breakfast but SHE never said to me to wash dishes as i am HER single daughter.

I come from a very small family there was only me, my mum and dad at home when I grew up, I think dad did the dishes probably once a year! He left all the housework to mum and still does, even when mum goes away on holiday he'll leave it for her do on her return, which is out of order. I live with one housemate now and we share the chores and one of his chores is the dishes, I do the laundry and the hoovering, thankfully it's shared and so it should be in all households, regardless.

No, unfortunately I'm the kind of person that can't stand the idea of somebody else doing my dishes. I was the youngest child and because my sisters had already moved out, it was up to me to do the dishes. My theory is that if something doesn't get completely cleaned, I've got no one to blame but myself.

Yes definatrely I remember I used to help my mom not only wahsing dishes but did laundry and seweeped the house too. SHe had fallen from stairs once and was on bed rest and I took care of the hosue , my father and my brother all helped me and my mom was so proud of me that time. I have taught my son too. Infact if I ask him to fill m,y daughters sipper he will always wash it thorughly first and then only refills it. He is going tobe eight now in july.

Dishes - Wash the dishes.
If I cook he washes the dishes and if he cooks I wash the dishes. In between everyone put the dishes in the dishwasher until it's full.

When my daughter turned 13 I thought she was old enough to wash dishes properly so I started taking it in turns with her. This year my son will turn 13 so then he will start to take turns with my daughter and I will get to put them away. It will be nice to have 2 dish washers in the household.

In my house we don't take turn in washin dishes.Without being told we know that it is the responsibilities of the smallest person in the house. We believe that can be the only way we can get even the smallest person in the involve in house activities

i had also experienced that kind of situation. when i was younger, my cousin and i used to take turns in washing the dishes because my siblings are too young to do so. when we were getting older, we actually "graduated" from washing the dishes and then my siblings were our successors.

It is just my mother and I now. I do the dishes and she does the laundry.

I'm an only child. When I grew up, whoever cooked didn't have to clean up. One of us would clear the table & put stuff away, the other would load the dishwasher. I think that's a great way of doing it. I'm pretty much the only cook around here. Not sure why as DH is a good cook, but I am. A few years ago I got all upset that nobody did anything with their dishes afterwards, so now they rinse their stuff and put it in the dishwasher. I still end up with pots & pans, but I kinda find that relaxing. My stepkids are 12 and 15, and know the basics of doing dishes, but we need to get them more involved. Othewise they're going to go off on their own and not keep up with things. I think once I get my home daycare started and we get settled into a routine again, we're going to start with how I did it when I was a kid. Maybe it'll get the rest of the family more involved in cooking so they don't have to clean up.
