When you will select for the best respond?

To me i will select the best replies which I think suits the topic of my discussion. I don't make any rules on how long should I wait before giving a best response. But if there are many responders in a short period of time, I would not waste much time and just give the best response to whomever that deserve it. However if there are not so many people replied to that topic, and it has been like 2 months or more, then I would just pick up the best answer from the handful of answers to be my best response.

i found out through experience that it's best to wait a few weeks (3 to 4 weeks, maybe) before you choose a best response to topics that have very few comments. there are some topics i started 2 or 3 weeks ago which i thought will no longer get a response. they only got 3 responses at the most so i already chose a best response from those few answers. 3 weeks after, i was surprised and delighted to see that responses started to pour in. but i also post topics that get responses almost instantly. in these cases i choose a best response when i feel the discussion will no longer get any more comments. usually after 3 to 5 days of posting the topic.

I usually wait about a week before I choose the best response. Sometimes, I do wait longer though because I'm not happy with the responses I received. I do get a little frustrated sometimes when I see someone who has started a discussion a few hours ago and has already chosen a best response. It makes you kind of wonder if it's really the best response or not.

It's really up to you. There is no hard and fast rule that you must follow. For me, I resolve them when I feel that it has reached a plateau i.e. I don't think any more people will be interested in responding. If I can find a suitable on to mark as best response, I will resolve the discussion. Otherwise, I may simply wait or just choose the best fit. After all, I like to come up with new discussions every day and to me, even a discussion a few days old looks old lol. :P

I would normally allow for at least one week to pass before I select my best response. I am not sure whether that will affect my earning or not. If there is only one response than that lucky member would receive my best response vote.
