If you were given a million dollars, and you could give it to one or two charities, but no more than 2, which one would you give to? And these include non profit churches, school, foundations, ect... I would give half to the church I attend. They could use it to pay off the building they have and to make a bigger nursery. It would be good to extend the youth program and extend the prison ministries as well. The other half of the money I'd give to www.modestneeds.org. They provide people with appliances, or pay bills that are just slightly out of reach of normal, every day people. These people just need a little help to get them through. It's like a group that tries to help people from having to go on welfare. Kinda of like help them so they can help themselves. They do so much, even offer grants!

I would definitely donate to MSF and any animal saver's organization. I hate what the PETA members had done to weak animals, I really hope it doesn't happen again. MSF will use it to save more lives all around the world.

I would split four ways...I would give 10% to my church immediately. Then I would split the remainder between two current endowments at the local community foundation: one endowment is for the local children's science center, the other to support a variety of community oriented workforce development, environment oriented, and childcare programs; and establish a third endowment there on behalf of the local free clinic.

I run a non profit food pantry for low income families and I know first handed how much it helps families. I have had Elderly clients tell me, through tears that they did not know if they were going to be able to buy medicine or food this month. It is sad that our government does not care enough about our own people to see that they have the necessities of life. Nobody at this food panty is paid, we all volunteer our time and services. I would give 1/2 the money to the food pantry. I used to be predident of the board of directors on a non profit thrift store. All the money raised at this thrift store is used in the community for things such as glasses and hearing aids for people who cant afford them . There are no paid employess at this thrift store. Everyone is volunteer. I would give the other 1/2 to this thrift store

Well thought out choices. Sometimes it seems like there are so many problems to overcome, how do we do it? But examples like your non profit work are good examples. One volunteer at a time...

I don't think we can give enough to disabled vets. Every time the Disabled Vets people call me for a donation, I search the house and always come up with nice things so they can sell it and make some money for them. You can't do too much for vets current and previous.

If i could choose to give money to any two charities i would probably choose...ASPCA (animal rescue) and Magies Place. Maggies Place is where pregnant women or single moms go when they cant support themselves or their babies. I think it'd feel nice to give them 500,000 dollars.

If I would be given two million dollars, I would probably give it to health charities and foundations for justice. Poor people who can't afford their own well-being would greatly benefit on this.

i would give to St. Judes childrens hospital. it is a place where they will treat your children's diseases, cancer, and other illness free of charge. and they take such good care of you.. the second one would probly go the the nearest shelter for battered women.

I see shows about St. Jude's all the time. How incredibly grateful parents must feel when they realize it is OK that they cannot afford care for their child; that someone else will be covering the cost and they can focus soley on the child.

if i were in that lucky situation, i would love to give one half for an organization with child care, eventually controlled by our church, the other half i would love to give to an organization who takes care of all sorts of animals. i would do my researches very serious before i decide.

This is a hypothetical situation. The questions says if you HAD to give it to charity. I don't think you understand the discussion. Of course, we would take care of ourselves, but this is not a real situation. And I have no doubt the majority of these people would give at least some of the money to their respective choices.

I would actually take the fisrt half and start a charity for homeless women with children. It would assist them in finding homes, getting a fresh start, life skills, whatever their needs may be. No such program exists in my area right now. I think my community could benefit from something like this. The second half would go to March of Dimes, I am very active with them right now. I think that sick babies deserve a chance in this world also. It's amazing what spare change can do!

I would split it between the National MS Society and the Hydrocephalus Society. I suffer from both of these ailments and one is curable via surgery and the other one, the Multiple Sclerosis, well, we are so close to a cure, but it's all about the money.

I would give half to Pacific Garden Mission (this is a homeless shelter in Illinois) And then I think I would give the other half to a mission board that was needing support to send missionaries to share the gospel. Or I would give it to one of the orphanges I have read about that have a shortage of workers and really need someone to help them. So they could hire more workers and get more supplies so that they could take better care of the orphanes.

I would give it all to abused and unwanted animals. There are so many animals not being properly cared for, thrown away, and abandoned. Why? Because of irresponsibe people. They get pets and for one reason or another these animals suffer the consequence. Most of them are euthanised when caught, or found in such horrible conditions they must be humanely put out of their misery. I love animals, and would help them anyway I could. They don't ask for much-Love & Care.

A good choice. I remember when "101 Dalmations" came to theaters, a lot of people bough dalmations, for themselves or their kids. But then they got tired of them and were trying to get rid of them or putting them on the street. Lack of person responsibility is horrendous when it comes to animals. I don't want to not mention though, there are a lot of people who DO care about animals, such as you.
