you earn more by adding images. You can see that in your earnings section which is bifurcated for you to see.

Yes, I believe it does make you some money. Even if you just put up 4 0r 5 a day it will most likely earn a little.
The best thing is to experiment. Do about the same number of posts one day and include pictures.
The next day, try the same amount of posts with no pictures.
