Dreamweaver and Frontpage do very similar things. I have used Frontpage since 1999 and recently moved to Dreamweaver. Here is what i think of the programs:
Frontpage is a fairly easy WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor that you could probably get used to quickly. On the other hand, when i first saw Dreamweaver, i had no idea what i was doing. Just recently i learnt how to use it.
Overall, i like Frontpage for designing my site but for coding i like Dreamweaver.

yes sites that are made in frontpage can be edited in dreamweaver. If your site was based entirely on tables though, the one from frontpage will seem to be messed up in dreamweaver. Frontpage is a little easy on tables while dreamweaver is really strict. If it was css based there shouldnt be a ton of problems
I hope that cleared it up :)

I know many of those who have used dreamweaver swear it's the best. I've only used frontpage myself so I can't make any real comparisons. But I don't think the difference is that great - if you can get the job done, then it suffices. ;-)

Each tool you know the best will be the best for you. I think there is no need to waist your time to learn a lot of different programming tools, in my opinion it is much better to get well know one tool and front page is a perfect tool to develop webpages!
