Why is that cellphone is very important?

It keep a person constantly in contact all the time if he keeps the phone on. And at time of emergency, a cellphone is a very useful tools, for you to call for help or getting advice over the phone to keep you going.
I use my cellphone to back up as my PDA with my calendar, tasks and contact list in it.
