Do you spend some quiet time alone everyday?

One moment you are scrubbing the floor, the next you are washing the dishes. One moment you are meeting a client, the next you are stuck in a meeting. One moment you are getting ready for work, the next you are preparing to sleep.
What is your everyday like? Is it something like what I described above? That you are always rushing from one task to the next, and sometimes, you aren't even sure what kind of life you are living?
A harsh realist will tell you, "Welcome to the world". Yet you don't believe that, do you? That life should simply be a ceaseless continuation of tasks that never seem to end?
In this fast-paced world, it is important or even critical to slow down a bit each day to meditate on anything, everything and nothing. Do you spend some quiet time alone each day? To perhaps listen to your inner voice, seek inspiration or set goals? If you do, when and how do you do it? If you don't, why not?
Do share your thoughts. ;-)

If you spend just 2-5 min doing serious reflection, I guess it is not too bad at all. ;-)

I spend quiet time alone every day because I work on the computer at home daily. My husband works outside the home and my 15 year old daughter goes to school. I have about eight hours out of the day to myself. I stay busy online and the only interuption that I have is when my dogs wants outside to use the bathroom. I enjoy the peace and quiet when I am the only one here because I can focus and concentrate and get alot more done. I also like it when I am here alone because I can get the house cleaned up and the laundry done. I seem to get alot of things done when no one else is here with me. I try to get a little peace and quiet also when they both are here in the evenings and the weekends, but it isn't easy to do because things stay so hectic and that is the only time we have to actually spend as a family. I try to do things we them when they are here but it sure is noce when I get my quiet time during the day.

Hi! I agree, quiet time alone each day is very, very important! I try to read before I go to sleep at night, but my daughter usually comes in with me and I can't concentrate on my reading then. I'm am really learning to value time to work on my personal goals and accomplishments. I'm currently reading books about finances and the authors are emphasizing the point that we should be having more fun and enjoying life. It will go by far too fast! Great post! :-)

I am a person with allot of nervous energy, a control freak, organised. What I'm trying to say, to be all of that, there is just no time, and the little time a do spend alone I start making lists, so I gave up years ago. Now I just read about it in magazines and here on MyLot that some people do get time, or make time to meditate, I envy them. My inner voice urges me on, to go and do something, I just can't sit and do nothing, I start panicking, and feel I am wasting time.

Really no time? Out of 24 hours each day, you can't even set aside 5 min?
I honestly think it is a matter of determination and choice. If you really want to, you *can* spare 5 min. :P

My guess is that you are controlling yourself right into a heart attack. I can guarantee you that if you would take the first five or ten minutes after you wake up (and go to the bathroom if need be) to be real quiet and start just talking to God, your day will go much smoother and you will likely accomplish much more than you do now with less stress. Of course, you will have to force yourself to stay still and quiet at first. It won't come naturally at first but I can guarantee you that if you will make yourself do this, the stress in your life will start to fade and you won't need to constantly be in control so you won't get stressed when things don't turn out the way you expect or want.

Unfortunately my daily schedule doesnt allow me anytime for some quiet time alone!
In order to explain better allow me to put down my daily schedule :
A typical weekday for me begins at 7:00 am, i get up and leave for gym, come back at around 9:00 am and have a shower and a quick breakfast than its off to the office.
It goes without saying that in the office i dont even get time to scratch my head!
I come back from my workplace at around 9:30 pm, again i take a shower and have a light dinner, than i study for a while and hit the sack at about 1:00 am!
So you see i dont get anytime to sit quietly alone! :(

Life is like that indeed for everyone, a housewife is busy with her house chores all day, they seem to be never ending. for a professional like me, work seems to be never ending, you can always stay up for those extra hours and work! we take out time to eat, to talk on phone, to listen to music.. and to post on topics on MyLot, but most of us dont take out time for ourselves.. Luckily i am not one of them, i have an independent room and after posting on MyLot at night, i lie down in my bed and just relax and filter out all good and bad thoughts that i had in the day.. i try to meditate to get rid of the stress! it has become a habit over the years, and the day i dont get my "personal minutes" at night, i feel the uneasiness the next day!

I have to get up pretty early, to get any ME time, I run, run, run, all day, then at the end of the day I'm too tired to stay up to be alone.
Every once in a while, I'll sneak away in the evening to relax in the tub. But it usually doesn't take long before my 2 yr old daughter will come a knocking "Mommy? Mommy? Can you come sit with me?" Then I have to be done. And get the only snuggle time she'll allow, which is at night when she's tired.

That's so cute and you will never regret that choice to spend the snuggle time with her.

I work 10 hours almost everyday, and am lucky if I just got to work for 8 hours. When I get home I found myself mylotting after my meals as I find this as a way to relax coz I get to talk to people unlike in the office where I only get to face machines, machines, and machines all day.
But for the quiet peaceful time alone? uummm I guess I seldom have that...not unless you would consider those few minutes before falling asleep wherein I get to lie on my bed and wait 'til' my eyes drop. :P

we shape and mould our lives with our lives with our thoughts, our expressions and our actions, but in todays busy life a person cant able to implies thier thoughts ,their expressions in his\her life. this is because no one have enough time to thing and to know ourself.so we have to analysis our thoughts ,our expression to make our life better and take it where we desire and for this we have to spend some quit time alone everyday.

Almost every day i do stay alone for some time. early in the morning by the time i wake up every one leaves my home leaving me alone. Will mix a cup of coffee for myself and start my computer to spend some time online. The day just passes by with my comouter and TV until every one gets back home. I am almost alone these days until i get into a good job.

Oh yes, I believe that quality time alone is essential to gather your thoughts and reflect on what you've done and what you have achieve it's time to pamper yourself and just unwind. I do this at the gym, especially after my 90 minute workout, I relax in the sauna cabin on my own, whilst the heat relaxes me I can chill out and reflect and yes to set goals and to plan out what needs to be done.

I really admire you for your gym diligence. I am quite ashamed that I broke my weekly run routine this week.
The sauna is nice though. :P

Yes ofcourse, now Iam dedicating 30 minutes exclusive silence. Iam practizing yoga at home and spend around 30-40 minutes a day whatever matters.
Iam finding of lot of difference in me after I started doing yoga, I have learnt yoga from www.divyayoga.com a good website which has simplified yoga practizes, they do have a TV channel name hastha in India.
Friends just go through the website and start practizing yoga you will find difference in life and at the same time you can spend some quiet time alone.

Man, I always find your discussions late, Lord Wizard..I'm always on the ninth or tenth page it seems! *isn't complaining*
Well..Yeah..my life is alot like you described there. Only I'm doing several other things whilst I'm doing dishes, I'll be cooking, or organizing the cubbards. I multitask, so often my life is twice as busy as what you described lol.
But yeah..I try to take some quiet time to myself sometimes. I don't get to OFTEN, but I try for at least once a week if I don't get to do a few minutes every day. I don't believe life should be just one task to the other -- though when one gets right down to it..isn't that what it is? Whether it's work and chores..to dreams, hopes, things we do with those we care about..
I agree it is critical to find some time to slow down..though I often wish that some of us could find time to do so. I also don't get to meditate very often..I rather miss doing it -- despite my old thinking of it as just another chore :P
In any case I am not divorced from my inner voice, it's probably the only thing which has kept me going so far in my insanely busy life lol. Likewise, my goals are usually unforgotten in my mind.
I'm not amazing, I take no credit for how I was raised which has ultimately made me what I am today. My mind just never shuts off..it's resulted in how I can multitask seven or more things at once, how I can't sleep most nights, how I do well in school..it's probably one of the reasons I'm still alive..lmao. But I wear myself out and overwork myself in this way..but more recently I've been doing better in getting private moments to myself and getting the rest I need to keep up with things. It's all a matter of being organized and pacing oneself it seems..looking at things realistically whilst spiritually and healthily too.
Balance. Lol.

I never really consciously spent time alone everyday - my life has always been a series of one thing after another. When I look back at it, as a child, I was in school and attending after-school activities, then it was university and assignments and projects. After university, I set up my own business, so the hours I put in were long and draining.
Saying that however, I would always take some time at night just to read a book or watch tv on my own. To enjoy the quiet of no one else being around me. These days (ok only 2 weeks now), I've taken up meditation because of a course I took so am learning to spend a bit more time for myself. I spend about 20-25 minutes doing the meditation (series of breathing techniques) and am also now attending some classes at the gym.

I don't usually get time everyday. I get about two or three days to relax and spend time with myself. Not the whole day but at least a couple hours each day. It sucks not having much time for myself. I usually spend it working, at school, or with my boyfriend.
