Cube Steaks...my own recipe

My family loves cube steaks. I’m not sure if this is a dish that is prepared in other countries or not. Cube steaks are thin slices of beef that are pounded until they resemble large, thin hamburger patties. They are inexpensive and delicious. I usually serve them with pasta and marinara sauce on the side and a green salad. Here is my recipe (created by me!) 1 lb. Cube Steaks 2 Eggs (beaten) Mix in a separate dish: ½ cup Parmesan 1 cup Breadcrumbs ½ tsp Salt ¼ tsp Pepper ½ tsp Mrs. Dash Italian Seasoning (or generic Italian seasoning) ¼ tsp Garlic Powder 1 tsp Parsley Flakes Dip cube steaks first into egg, then into the breadcrumb mixture. Fry in oil until done.

This sounds like what we call "cutlets". I make them from beef, chicken, pork etc. The breading also sounds familiar. You are right this is an excellent dish to serve. Very delicious.

I LOVE cube steaks but I like them fairly plain with just a little butter and pepper on top. Sometimes I fry them with a little catsup or tomato paste. When I was a child they were my favoirite food and I requested Cube steak and peas for every birthday meal.

I have always marinated mine in Italian Salad dressing then breaded them with breadcrumbs, and parmesan cheese. They are very tender and tasty after being marinated.

Thanks! I copied, pasted and printed that! I'll put cube steaks on my next grocery list and try it out as it sounds good. I made a stew once with cut up cube steak, that was good.. No recipe, just brown the meat, and throw all ingredients in the pot and cook/simmer all day..

Wow, that does sound yummy. I never thought to add parmesan cheese to the mix. But than again, I'm not much of a cook either. I'm sure my kids will love this recipe, they eat Parmesan cheese by the spoonfuls.

I've never heard of steak cubes. Im wondering if they are similar to our minutes steak or just a normal piece of steak cut to size? Anyway, this looks to be a nice recipe. Thanks Id love to give it a go...

I think your minute steaks are what we call steak-ums or sandwich steaks.

You can make your own cube steak by cutting round steak to about three inch squares and pounding them with a meat mallet. The result is a little different then the ones you buy in the market because they use an expensive machine the pounds it and also makes small cuts in it. But the results taste the same.

Yummy... I am going to try it that way. I love to cook and new recipes are always something that I like to learn:) I think we have something a bit like that back home we call them " bifes panados" except that we don't use the cheese. Thanks for the recipe :):)

I have made these before but I usually serve them with mashed potatoes and gravy and another veggie on the side or salad. I have a hard time getting my daughter to eat meat (she is 16 and has been going through this antimeat thing for 2 years) but she will always eat these.

Cube steak is one of my favorite things to eat. I'm not sure if I would like it breaded but I'm willing to give it a try. It actually sounds pretty good. We usually just fry it up in some garlic and oil and add some salt and pepper. Its nothing fancy. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

this is indeed very tempting to prepare. it is very easy to cook. i like cooking myself eventhough i am male. i just wonder why is it called cube steaks? if it is cube? but it is pounded to look like hamburger patties, which are somewhat round in shape, which is far from cube. anyway i will try this, hope i get it right. cheers!
