Online Friends?

Hi Ms. Jessi Thank you for starting this wonderful discussion about online friends! Like you, I too have trust issues having been badly burnt by people I thought were true friends, and who ended up letting me down very badly. I do have several real online friends. My best on-line friends is a fellow freelance writer, and we first became 'writing friends' sharing resources about how to break into the writing business. How do I know she is a true friend? Well for one thing, we first developed our friendship by email, and then switched to messenger and now chat every day. We are always here for each other, talk about everything under the sun, and often we can be surfing around other sites leaving messenger open and just type back and forth as the need arises. My online friend and I have also spoken on the telephone, and are now writing a children's book together via the computer. Yes our time zone distance are challenging, she is in Montana, I live in Nova Scotia, but we do get work done. This is my true online friend story!

i believe in this things online friends. well sum times u'l get different people from different country from different cultures and they can be friends. whether u meet them or not. at lets ur sharing things online and ur talking to them through online so it a friendship emerge u can say...

We can call friends through the bonding that we share. Even if it's online, real or in dreams, as long as you have bonding w/ each other, I would call that as a friend. Although, trusting someone is very crucial, but why don't we get it a try w/o prejudicing ourself? Ü

Yes, it is very possible...I have a friend online I had for about 5 years, before I actually met them...It was very cool and even now 9 years later, we are still very good friends

hmmmmm i have a lot of friends online.. ive been chatting with them for years already.. and some of them ive met personally and they seem to be nice towards me..

Yes, it is definately possible. You do have to be careful online, but I think the majority of people online are just normal people like you and me. The friends I have made I met while blogging. I have one in particular who I am close with even though we live on opposite sides of the country. We have spoken on the phone several times, we have shared intimate details, and have 'been there' for each other. I count her as one of my best friends, even though we haven't actually met. I do look forward to the day we do meet though!

Yes i have a couple of true online friends that i have been friends with for 3 years.We have never met in person but have talked on the phone.So to me it is possible to have online friends.

yes u can call that areall friendship but not all people u meet through the internet ,well i myself have a wonderful friend in australia since 2 years her and i became avery clost friends and we decided to meet in reall next year there in her country or in my country plus we exchange letters by mail and keep sending cards in speciall occessions i love her very much and now i know alot about australian society which i never know before. monalisa

Yes,its definately possible to have online friends.Most of the people think that it is not possible.But they forget that these days most of them use Internet like they comb their hair.Its possible to have friends,but cannot guarentee their friendship.

fridenship is alway about the way you take it to be.you can have an online friend is not a bad thing alot of us have it u could even make on in my lot so u can make online friends

Sorry, i have not yet experienced such friendship. But i have seen through my friends circle. I got a friend, she will work on internet atleast three hours in a day. she has lot of friends through online, some people are just for time pass but few of them are real friends to her. For the past three years they are online friends, till last month they didnt see each other, but she got a great support by the time of her project work. Really we have to appriciate that person who has not met atleast once but helped her a lot.....

hi.. well, i guess it is really possible. I hav meet several friends online.. some started with online games and chatting.. we talked almost about everything, then one day came and we decided to meet.. then that is it!! Everything is possible.. all we need is to be sincere in making friends..;]

No, I don't think that It's possible to have real friends over the Internet. You might think they're cool online, but you don't know how they are in real life.

Hi, I have "real friends" as you so put it online. I play world of warcraft and many of my friends in the town i live in also play and through that game, previously when they were my fiance's friends they are now my friends. Also back in 2003 my penpal from germany whom i met online visited australia for three weeks and that was awesome fun. I also have a penpal also met online considering coming to visit me from japan. I was studying through Thomson Education Direct and met a girl who lived one or two towns away and now we are awesome friends! close to my best friend i have here. Also a user who uses this mylot has been my friend for almost 9 months and we chat on the phone etc, and are looking at visiting each other. So hell yeah i think you can find actual friends, in this day and age i think its easier. love Sam.

For me I think no because most of the people didn't say thier true name or thier real life so how I can make a friend while he lies on me. Some people say yes I have a good friends online but I think that there is still something missing because if you didn't see that person face to face or talk with him in reality not in chatting you'll never know who he is?

i like the idea of having friends apart from those that you can see and touch. i believe that its possible to have real friends online. I like to have a friend from different culture and country. The only way that it could happen is thru online. I just responded to another topic about Love on the internet. If love is possible on the net then friendship online is also possible.

I think it is possible. In fact, I have this wonderful friend who I have never met before. Actually, she's a friend of my friend, so I got to know her through Friendster. We chat about lots of things. I think the reason long distance and online friendship works because we need someone who understands and yet is there when we get hurt. When we feel down, we just log online and start spilling everything out to them. Telling personal stuffs to a friend who you can see isn't as easy compared to telling it to an online friend.

online frinds I THINK IT'S POSSIPLE TO MAKE FRINDS ONLINE AS LONG AS YOU HAVE TRUST ON THE WEB SIT OR THE GROUP YOUR ARE JOINING WHATTS HARM IN HAVING FRIENDS ONLINE AND YOU WIIL NOT KNOW UNLESS YOU TRY IT.

i don't like Online friend because they can sometimes be scammers.Experience has show it to me that 70%of people that are loking for online friends are scammer
