I often make pancakes or French toast for a weekend breakfast. I have been longing for a waffle iron so I can make those too. Whenever I make these breakfast treats I occasionally have a few leftover. I just pop them into a freezer bag and separate each layer with waxed paper to keep them from sticking together. Toss them into the freezer for later use. You only need to pop them into a toaster oven or microwave to reheat them.

I think I like pancakes and Italian French toast the best. I'm not that in to sweet things, so I've been known to just put butter on my pancakes and little to no syrup.
As for the Italian french toast, it's something my mother used to make me as a kid. She would take crusty Italian bread slices (or sometimes left over bagette) and dip them in a mixture of egg and milk with just a little salt. Then she would fry the slices up in a pan (I think with olive oil). However, we didn't have syrup with them. Instead she would sprinkle a little more kosher or sea salt on them. I remember that it tasted like egg-y pretzels and I really liked it. Once it cooled down a bit, you could even pick up the pieces and munch away. The crust would stay crunchy and it was great. Hmmm, I bet it would also be good with some tomato sauce on it. I should gave her a call and ask her how to make it. Because now that I'm thinking about it, I think it would be a nice thing to make over the weekend.

I also love to make pancakes and french toast. Especially french toast, and usually I make the right amount of french toast, so I do not have any left over. But, with pancakes there is always so many that have to go in the trash. I can't believe I never thought to freeze them, that is a wonderful idea, I am going to have to do that next time, because I hate throwing things away. Thanks.

I love French toast , I saw on FOOD TV a recipe for Apple Baked pancakes all you do is core and peel two or three apples and place in baking dish and pour the pancake batter over top and bake at 350 degrees for half hour to forty-five minutes until golden brown .
OH sorry on the apples you need to add two to three table spoons brown sugar with the same amount of butter and sprinkle with Cinnamon .
I added a little water to also make like a sauce . This is so delicious I just loved it .
Try it out guaranteed you`ll love it too .

I do this often, It makes my mornings faster and gives a homemade start to the day. I like them better than the commercially prepared ones because I can control what I put in them, and leave out the preservatives. We get pretty gourmet.

I don't hardly ever make pancakes at home. I just buy the frozen ones because they are easier for us. I have never made waffles or french toast before either. If we want that kind of breakfast we usually go out to eat LOL. I need to come stay at your house cause it sounds like you cook some good stuff.

oh I live alone and I am always putting a bit of food in the freezer when I decide to cook something particular...I am not good at cooking for me only...not in the right quantity...but I am aware of this being a problem with many singles!!!! Therefore now I am used to putting aside in the freezer all the food that is leftover...I can eat a bigger variety of food and I have something ready, waiting for me, when I don't have enough time to prepare something fresh...I like preparing French crepes for example...you cannot prepare just one crepe!!! Therefore I put each crepe into a freezer bag and have them waiting for me in the freezer...I have just changed my fridge in order to have a bigger freeze with it...I hate spoiling things and above all I hate spoiling food...

I have a waffle iron and it is great, and yes you can make ahead and freeze. I used to put in a cookie sheet until frozen then packed into an old bread bag. Here is a hint when reheating sprinkle with a drop or two of water, then put into toaster or toaster oven for just a few minutes, they come out like fresh soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. Waffles do take a bit of time to make about 5 minutes cooking time but you do not have to stand there and watch them You can walk away and leave them with out fear of them burning. I have an egg timer, and just set if for 5 minutes, and carry on with what ever.As a special treat I serve with frozen sweetened strawberries and whip cream. very nice, but syrup works for me most of the time.

PANCAKES!!!! WOW!!! I LOVE PANCAKES!
I make pancakes too. I love experimenting on my pancakes making them colorful and fruitful.
There was one time i made blueberry, cranberry, banana, chocolate, mango, strawberry, cinnamon, peanutbutter and cheese pancakes... and oh so YUMMY! All of them tast good! Of course every girl would always LOVE the CHOCOLATE PANCAKE! :P for me it's my favorite then the Blueberry... Try experimenting on your pancakes with the fruits you love! Add whip cream and maple syrup and DIG in... its great to serve these too when you have KIDS as your guest! :)

My partner and kids just LOVE buttermilk Pancakes. I don't make them often though, and I'm not sure why. I should do them more often on Sundays and make it a regular brunch kind of thing. I'm sure they'd love it.
I'm not a huge fan of pancakes myself though, and I hate Maple Syrup although again, my kids and partner all love it. I say they have weird taste in food lol.
My partner buries his pancakes in Syrup. I find myself asking if he'd like some pancakes with his syrup.

I often make extra pancakes or french toast and freeze it.
It makes a quick supper for when you are in a hurry and don't have time to cook.
French toast is especially good topped with strawberry or raspberry jam. Even better, if you have them. top your french toast with a dollop of whipped creme and top with fresh berries.

I definantly would take french toast even though it takes like the longest to make, well i guess pancakes are pretty hard too. But my friends mom actually made me french toast one time and it was absolutely amazing. It was a cool kind of bread. OH YEAH it was monkey bread it was so great i don't know how she made it but she had this cool griddle that she used and then she made pancakes too. But i haven't had a waffle in a while so its all good.

That is a lovely tip Elusive, I like pancakes a lot and am always eating them out in restaurants.Hubby doesn't like them much so I don't make them at home. I think I will bring a good pancake mix this time and make some extra to satisfy my pancake cravings..hehe

This is my chance ... last year I won a waffle maker ... but to date my attempts at making waffles have been a disaster ...
I did ask a friend how he makes his waffles and he told me he just buys a packet mix ! Hmmmm nothing like that here in the UK ... so what is the right mix for making waffles ... is it just a thicker pancake mix??
Please someone take pity on a poor 'wafflely uneducated' UK woman .. and post a waffle recipe for making the waffle batter ...

When I was first married I bought my husband a waffle maker becuase he loved the soo much. About 7 years later we still have it and use it all of the time. I do the same thing and toss the leftovers in the freezer. I also break them up and make stick out of them for my son, and just pop them in the toaster when he wants some.
