My father studied at the University of the Philippines himself and got his bachelor's degree on Agriculture there. He said that at the time he was studying there, the university was ranked among the top ten universities in Asia. Up to now it remains as the number one school in the Philippines, however it already lags behind most of the universities in Asia.

The University of the Philippines is a very popular university in the Philippines. I studied at AMA but only up to 3rd year Computer Engineering. My cousin studied at the University of the Philippines at Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines.

The University of the Philippines was well known before but later on it became unpopular because it was used for something else and not for the objectives which it was established.

In our province, we have the University of Iloilo but of course the University of the Philippines is much more well-known than any university in the Philippines, I think, especially U.P. Los Banos before when foreign students come to study agriculture and the irony is that they studied here and their countries became more progressive whereas the Philippines is lagging behind as far as agriculture is concerned.
