The Air Force is investigating the concept of using a Minotaur launch vehicle to destroy global targets in less than one hour, according to a draft Broad Agency Announcement released on Monday. The Minotaur would carry multiple BLU-108B/B sensor fused weapons carried in a delivery vehicle. The delivery vehicle will separate from the Minotaur rocket and re-enter Earth's atmosphere, fly to the target area, and then dispense munitions, either directly, or through the use of a tactical munitions dispenser.

I'm not really sure what a minotaur launch vehicle is or exactly what sort of weapons multiple BLU-108B/B are but to me it sounds a bit scary really. How much is this costing the government? wouldn't some of the money they are spending on defence forces be better spent on the health system? It's just a thought.

The Minotaur launch vehicle normally launches satellites. But now they want to use it to launch bombs into space and have them re-enter Earth's atmosphere and hit a target on the ground.

Oh yea. It will cost about $9 million just to study the concept of using the Minotaur in this way.
