How much does appearance really matter?

When you are looking for a girl or a boy, what do you really look the first? Nowadays, when there are beautiful models shown from the TV every day, then people have started to look for an ideal. But take a look inside yourself for a second, do you consider yourself as a person who judge after appearance, please try to be as honest as you can. When I say my own oppinion, then I must say, the first thing I see, is still appearance. But later when you get to know the person, then personality can become much more important than appearance.

A lot of research has shown that people do make judgements about others on first appearances. This is an inevitable process during an initial meeting. Some believe this tendency is part of our evolutionary make up and is an integral part of the survival instinct. In essence we have retained in built mechanisms that allow us to make quick decisions of a new person, we make a quick calculation, not always consciously, as to whether this person is good or bad, trustworthy or dodgy etc. Having said this however, it does not mean that we are incapable of overriding these initial quickly made judgements; the more information our brain receives – the more we learn about the individual, the more our initial opinion is susceptible to modification.
