Who is tired of people starting threads to advertise their referral link?

I think over 3/4 of the threads in the "make extra money" boards are people starting their own threads to advertise their referral links. If people would actually take the time to write out a lengthy explanation of their particular program and why it will enable you to make extra money, how to go about it, etc. I might be inclined to take a look, but I'm so tired of the... "Hey join this program and you'll get rich or try this PTP forum just like this one but better." Please keep giving these people negative responses and maybe this will help cut down on these ridiculous threads and help us maintain the integrity of mylot.
What do you guys think?

I actually like reading those because I am always looking for ways to make extra income online. So some of them are garbage but every once in awhile I come across something that is real. I've actually made more money from a lead I got from this site than any other way.

Agreed,
Some of them out there are certainly real. I have responded to threads with REAL ways on how to make money online and SHOWN people proof of payment (which I think people should do), but there is a difference in 'helping others earn money' and spamming a referral link (which could FEASIBLY) help others make money. That said, there is an appropriate way to go about it and spamming it when it's not asked for and starting threads about it ARE NOT the right ways.

It isn't allowed there to start such discussions. You're right, we should give them negative ratings and do not response them. They are violating the rules and their discussions may be deleted. I wasn't careful enough once and replied such a discussion. Somebody asked about a website, I gave my oppinion, and it was marked as best response. Next day the discussion incl. my response was deleted because the member who started it used her referral link.

I am REALLY tired of it. Its seems to be the same sites over and over again with people trying to be sly about how they present it...the little "see what you think" and then the obvious referral link. I think they should ask people on their friends list or offer it without trying to be sneaky. Just telling people to get in touch with you should be sufficient as along as its part of a conversation started and not just a "let me tell you about this deal, contact me" approach. It has to be something that goes with the conversation.

I have helped some people on here to make extra money. But I will not post anything that has not paid me.I also will not post a site that you have to pay for.I work at home online and make a nice income.I felt that sharing what I do might help others.I don't mind people posting their links. Some are good sites.I have joined a few and made some money.I also joined Mylot from another forum.Had that person not posted I would not be on this site.

I do not even go to those threads, as I get plenty here, including people who send friend requests to search for referrals. I think that an adequate representation of a program might make me look around, but mostly, I just read to see other user's experiences, and they usually are flops. YOu have a good idea.

I too wish for information instead of some cryptic link to what we know not. I need to know if it would be good for me. I am busy and thus only need something that would fit into what I do. Not sure I would give them a negative since we just encourage them for responding and we don't have to respond to those anyway.

Hi streak,
Glad to finally hear from you again. I see you are still a true mylotter to heart. Welcome back and where have you been all these while.
Anyway, I tend to agree with what you say although I am sometimes or many times a culprit too. There's no stopping what and how members can post their discussions but I agree that it should at least be more informative.

I see you've been hard at work in my absence. I wouldn't call me a true mylotter just had a few extra minutes this week. I'm SO BUSY with baseball, work, and the last semester of my senior year of college. I'm doing my senior thesis on online marketing ;-) But yeah, just haven't found much time for mylot these days. I got that first payout and haven't really been back sense. I do somehow have 34 referrals that I don't know where they came from though. LOL

Streak, you got to teach me how to sign up referrals. I am still hopeless at that. If you have any good effective way of ensuring referrals, please message me. And thank you my friend.

Would it matter if they wrote a huge post about how they made money? I have made money at Inbox Dollars but I was told here that it's a scam. If you work at any program you can make money. AS for the huge thread about it, would anyone actually read it? I did one for Winzy. I explained lots of stuff. It didn't matter. I got 7 referrals that I am so happy to have gotten. Out of the 7, 4 are active.
I would never give anyone a negative rating based on one linky. Now for 3 or more of the exact same, I will. Spamming drives me nuts.

I for one am down right tired of the referral links being posted. One its against the guidelines and two they are just going to be deleted. So it just seems like a big waste of time to respond to them or start them for that matter.

Yeah. For a bit there I was responding in the threads and warning them not to post the referral links, that it was against the Terms of Service, etc. I was genuninely trying to explain to them why, etc. but I finally realized I was wasting my breath and opportunities to earn a few extra pennies, because many of those threads ended up getting deleted and I lost out on some money as a result.

I do not completely agree to you.I mean they can be helpful sometimes. The integrity of mylot is not affected by these kind of threads. The only thing is it makes mylot more commercial.I think there should be no problem with this.

I have to admit, guilty as charged however when I post a link I do so because I am honestly making money on a particular site. And I think it is a good way to help others ferret through the scams.
As far as the referrals, Nice bonus but not particularly a priority for me.
